An artificial ventilation apparatus includes: a connecting portion which is connected to a respiratory system of a patient; an inspiratory circuit which is a flow path for flowing a gas from a ventilator to the connecting portion; an expiratory circuit which is a flow path for guiding a gas exhausted from the connecting portion to an exhaust portion of the ventilator; an expiratory valve which blocks a flow of a gas from the exhaust portion toward the connecting portion; a carbon dioxide concentration sensor which is disposed in a circuit that is provided at a downstream side of the expiratory valve and which detects a carbon dioxide concentration; and an alarm outputting unit which outputs an alarm based on an output of the carbon dioxide concentration sensor.

The present invention relates to a coordinate input pen for specifying and outputting coordinates of the pen by detecting two infrared beams that are emitted from two separate positions for pivotally scanning over a plane parallel to a surface of a display panel. Disclosed is the system for editing characters and graphics through a computer with a data entered via the pen point entry procedure. The system comprises the input device for entering the data, the data processor for processing the data entered, the data storage for storing the data entered, the display device for displaying the display data, and the pen through which the data is entered. With this system, information containing characters and graphics as well as the editing request in a mixed manner can be entered through pen points without paying any consciousness to the entry of commands, as well as the characters, graphics and the commands can be subjected to processing.

A diagram recognizing system is capable of automatically recognizing a diagram prepared, for example, through a manual operation or through drawing software, independently from a CASE tool or the like, and delivering a recognized logic to the CASE tool or the like without the aid of any manual operation. A recognizing rule for recognizing the diagram as the object of recognition is entered and stored. A symbol, a connecting line, a character string, and a relationship of connection between the symbols, each structuring the diagram, are recognized on the basis of the recognizing rule by a diagram recognizing means. Logical data, indicative of the kind of each of the symbols, the character string, and the relationship of connection between the symbols, are generated, and the logical data are converted into and generated as a predetermined file type so as to be delivered directly to the CASE tool or the like.

The specification abstracting-detailing system stores system specification information in a hierarchical structure. A hierarchy operation selects an object to be detailed or abstracted from the specification information, for updating hierarchical information of a hierarchy between specification information of the hierarchy in such a state that a logical relation of the specification information contained in the hierarchy of the object selected, and for creating or deleting a new hierarchy. An electronic board system has a reduced display region at a lower portion of a writing screen on its electronic board, in addition to a non-reduced display region. A character, an image such as a graphic, etc., and an edit command, written on the reduced display region, can be entered into the electronic board system, and can be displayed on the non-reduced display region of the writing screen of the electronic board. Hence, the image displayed on the non-reduced display region can be seen by other persons in front of the electron board without interference from a shadow of the writer, and the electronic board can be manipulated with readiness and at high precision by a person who cannot reach an upper portion of its writing screen. Further, sensors capable of sensing the traces of the image are embedded in the rear of the writing screen so that the electronic board can readily be moved and can be prepared at reasonably low cost. The characters, images, edit commands, and so on written manually on the electronic board with a pointing device can be recognized and edited on the basis of the recognized command. The results of recognition are then projected onto and displayed on the writing screen of the electronic board.
