Before transmitting a print job to a printing apparatus, a CPU of a print processing apparatus determines whether paper information designated in the print job has been registered in a paper information database of the print processing apparatus. If the paper information has not been registered, the CPU extracts paper information similar to the paper information designated in the print job from those stored in the paper information database of the print processing apparatus. Furthermore, the CPU copies information about the dependency on the printing apparatus, which is included in the extracted paper information (printer dependency information) to the paper information designated in the print job. Then, the CPU registers the paper information designated in the print job, to which the printer dependency information has been copied, in a paper information database of the printing apparatus and transmits the print job to the printing apparatus.

Print processing apparatus for printing a print job having a paper type not included in a paper information database

A printing apparatus that facilitate a checking operation of printed matter during printing and can avoid deterioration of quality of the printed matter. A printer unit executes a printing process according to an inputted print job. A determination unit determines, when the print job is interrupted during the printing process of the printer unit, whether the interruption requires a check printing. A control unit controls the printer unit to execute the check printing after removing the interruption of the print job using print data of the print job when the determination unit determines that the interruption requires the check printing.

If an optional paper feeding deck or furnisher, or paper stacker, is connected to an image forming apparatus (such as a printer), such optional devices are to be controlled by connecting the paper conveyance control apparatus to control those options. When a delivery order is a descending order, a printing page order is set to the descending order and, thereafter, a print job is received and analyzed, thereby confirming that the printing page order is the descending order. After that, image data of all pages is generated and an occupation command of a print processor is issued. A printing apparatus is provided with a main body including a video controller, having video signal generation device for generating a video signal from image information based on a recording command from an external apparatus and control device, and with a supervisory controller including optional unit control device for controlling at least an optional unit connectable to the main body. When an optional unit (40, 50) is mounted, a video controller (27) serving as main control unit sends various control commands to a supervising controller (101) through an interface (114).
