A roller-type depressing device that can depress an object like a die or a molding target by controlling the pressure of a roller, an imprint device, and a method utilizing the same are provided. A roller-type depressing device depresses an object like a die or a molding target by a main roller, and includes a pressure adjusting plate, a roller moving unit that moves the main roller relative to the object, a pressure adjusting unit that holds the pressure adjusting plate so that force produced by a pressure difference in fluid applied to both faces of the pressure adjusting plate acts on the main roller, a pressure receiving stage receiving pressure of the main roller, a pressure adjuster that adjusts the pressure difference in fluid applied to both faces of the pressure adjusting plate, and a pressure equalizer that equalizes pressure applied to the object by the main roller.

Radiation image read-out and reproducing apparatus

A front end portion of a flat plate-like transparent thermoplastic material is grasped as bent so that the middle section thereof is convex. The thermoplastic material is heated and softened, and the rear end portion of the thermoplastic material is rounded cylindrically in the same direction as the bending direction of the front end portion. The thermoplastic material is then allowed to cool gradually, so that the front end portion has a flat plate-like shape after the gradual cooling. The cylindrical rear end portion is cut and the cut face is planished.

Method of making light guide member

A photodetector arrangement has an elongate, transparent light conducting member for causing light incident on a side periphery thereof to propagate axially therethrough toward an end thereof. A photosensitive device is located in the vicinity of the end of the light conducting member to produce an electric signal in response to light streamed through the end of the light conductor. A light interceptor is provided for limiting a quantity of light which is incident on a part of the light conductor adjacent to the photosensitive device to be detected by the device. Alternative to the light interceptor, the photosensitive device may include a solid state image sensor having an array of photosensitive cells disposed to receive light streamed out of a portion of the end of the light conducting member, which portion is near to the side periphery of the light conducting member on which the light is incident.

Photodetector for generating position signals

An apparatus for reading out a radiation image stored in a stimulable phosphor sheet comprises a scanner for scanning the stimulable phosphor sheet by stimulating rays which cause it to emit light in proportion to the radiation energy stored, a light guiding sheet for guiding the emitted light to a light output face, and a photodetector having a light receiving face for detecting the light guided by the light guiding sheet. A plate exhibiting a refractive index approximately equal to that of the light guiding sheet is closely contacted with the light output face. A first cover is closely contacted with the plate, and a second cover is closely contacted with the circumferential surface of the photodetector so that the light receiving face thereof stands face to face with the plate in spaced relation. The second cover is removably joined with the first cover in liquid-tight condition. The space between the light receiving face and the plate is filled in hermetically sealed condition with transparent liquid exhibiting a refractive index approximately equal to that of the plate.

A light-shielding cover for a light guide member guiding light emitted from a stimulable phosphor sheet carrying a radiation image stored therein when the stimulable phosphor sheet is exposed to stimulating rays comprises a flexible light-shielding member for covering the whole of the side faces of the light guide member without closely contacting the side faces, and a pair of rod-like core metal members fitted to the flexible light-shielding member for sandwiching a portion near a linear light input face of the light guide member from both sides thereof.

Light-shielding cover for sheet-like light guide member

A scanning optical system comprises a gas laser beam source for emitting a laser beam which causes a stimulable phosphor sheet carrying a radiation image stored therein to release the stored energy of the radiation as light emission, optical members for scanning the stimulable phosphor sheet with the laser beam, and a beam expander positioned between the optical members and the gas laser beam source. The angle of incidence of the laser beam is adjusted by the optical members so that the direction of the incident laser beam is always different from the direction normal to the surface of the stimulable phosphor sheet. Thus the laser beam reflected by the stimulable phosphor sheet is prevented from being fed back along the same optical path as that of the incident laser beam.

Optical system for scanning with laser beam

A photo-sensor, such as a photo-diode, is applied to the converging area of a flat type light transmission unit in an image read-out system, thereby intercepting a part of the scan light which falls on and travels through the light transmission unit after being reflected from an image-bearing sheet. The output signal from the photo-sensor can be advantageously used to detect arrival of the sheet edge at the scanning station, any scratches on the sheet and other operating conditions as required.
