This invention relates to a magnetic head device and a disk drive, which are suitable for application to a mass-storage floppy disk drive. A first and second rails are provided on the disk side in projected form on a slider of each of magnetic head elements so as to extend in a tangential direction R of a track of the disk and be parallel with each other. A head chip for recording and reproducing data in a state of being in contact with a recording surface of the disk and in a standard recording density is provided substantially in the central position of the first rail. Another head chip for recording and reproducing data in a state of being levitated from the recording surface of the disk and in a high recording density is provided in a position on the rear side of the second rail with respect to the tangential direction R of the track. A width of the first rail of each magnetic head element is narrower than a width of the second rail thereof. The slider is inclined and levitated so that the second rail approaches the recording surface of the disk.

Magnetic head device and recording medium drive

This invention relates to a magnetic head device and a disk drive, which are suitable for application to a mass-storage floppy disk drive or the like. A magnetic disc apparatus capable of selectively driving at least two types of the magnetic discs having signal recording portions on their major surfaces and having different recording densities. The magnetic disc apparatus includes a main head carriage mounted for movement on a base block, a supporting arm having its one end supported by a main head carriage, and a magnetic head having a first transducer having a slider, and a first core and adapted for accessing information signals at a first recording density, and a second transducer having a second core and adapted for accessing information signals at a second recording density higher than the first recording density. A magnetic gap for the first transducer and a magnetic gap for the second transducer are formed on the surface of the magnetic head facing the major surface of the magnetic disc. The magnetic disc apparatus also includes a flat-plate-shaped pivoting member for pivotably supporting the magnetic head in a state in which the slider and the base block are disposed on one and the opposite sides of the pivoting member. The magnetic head is changed in its posture to the magnetic disc to follow surface deviation of the magnetic disc produced during driving to achieve correct accessing of the magnetic disc by the magnetic head.

Magnetic disc apparatus with a magnetic space member

A magnetoresistance effect type magnetic head apparatus has a magnetoresistance effect sensing element, means for applying a bias magnetic field to the sensing element, a detecting circuit for obtaining a detecting signal, a low pass filter for deriving an unwanted signal component from the detecting signal, and means for applying a cancelling magnetic field to the sensing element so as to eliminate the unwanted signal component. An additional sensing element may also be provided to detect an external magnetic field, and a corresponding signal is generated which is applied to a first sensing element so as to cancel the effects of the external magnetic field.

Magnetic transducer head utilizing magnetoresistance effect

A magnetic transducer head utilizing magnetoresistance effect having a circuit for applying a constant voltage to outer ends of at least one pair of magnetoresistance effect elements provided in series on a discontinuous portion other than a magnetic gap of a magnetic core forming a magnetic gap and a conductor arrangement for applying bias magnetic fields opposite in polarity to the magnetoresistance effect elements, respectively wherein an output is derived from a connected point between the pair of magnetoresistance effect elements.
