A lubricating oil composition comprises (A) a base oil, (B) a 3-methyl-5-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl substituted fatty acid ester in an amount of 0.1-5 percent by mass and (C) an auxiliary component, said auxiliary component being one member of the group of (a) a nitrogen-containing compound in an amount of 0.001-1 percent by mass, (b) a sulfur and/or phosphorus-containing compound in an amount of 0.1-5.0 percent by mass or (c) a phenolic compound in an amount of 0.1-5.0 percent by mass. This composition features the combination with a base oil of these specified components whereby there is provided synergistic effect conducive to inhibition or prevention of both oxidation and sludge formation while in use under elevated temperature conditions over extended periods of time.

Lubricating oil composition

An oil-soluble polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 1 000,000, which is a polycondensate prepared by polycondensing the following ingredients (A), (B) and (C):

Oil-soluble polyester, additive for lubricating oil, and lubricating oil

An oil-soluble polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 1,000,000, which is a polycondensate prepared by polycondensing the following ingredients (A) and (B): (A) a dicarboxylic acid ingredient, and (B) a diol ingredient comprising (i) a hindered glycol represented by the following formula: HO--CH.sub.2 --CR.sup.1 R.sup.2 --CH.sub.2 --OH wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent a linear or branched alkyl group, and (ii) an alkylene glycol having at least 4 carbon atoms in the main chain. This oil-soluble polyester is useful as an additive for a lubricating oil.

A polymer composition which is superior in processability, exhibits an extremely superior electroconductive characteristic when doped using an electron acceptor, and which comprises.

A hole transporting material is constituted by a compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, which may be the same or different, are each independently hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 are each independently a divalent hydrocarbon residue; l is an integer of 0 or more; m is an integer of 1 or more; and n is an integer of 2 or more.

An electroactive polymer is obtained by doping a copolymer represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, furyl, pyridyl, nitrophenyl, chlorophenyl, or methoxyphenyl; l is an integer not smaller than 2; m is an integer not smaller than 1; and n is an integer not smaller than 2.

Novel compolymers and electroactive polymers derived therefrom

Provided is a copolymer having a repeating unit represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein Ar represents ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, furyl, pyridyl, chlorophenyl, nitrophenyl or methoxyphenyl, n is 1 or more and an electroactive polymer obtained by doping the above copolymer.

Process for preparing polyolefins

A process for the homopolymerization or copolymerization of olefins is disclosed, which is carried out in the presence of a catalyst system comprising the combination of at least one organometallic compound with a transition metal compound supported on a solid carrier, said solid carrier being obtained by the reaction of (a) a magnesium halide, (b) a compound represented by the formula: Al(OR).sub.n X.sub.3-n, where R is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1 to 24 carbon atoms, X is a hydrogen atom, and n is 0&lt;n.ltoreq.3, and (c) a compound represented by the formula: Si(OR').sub.m X.sub.4-m, where R' is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom, and m is 0.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.4. The resulting polymers are characterized by a large bulk density and a narrow range of molecular weight distribution.

Process for producing polyolefins

A process for the homopolymerization or copolymerization of olefins is disclosed, which is carried out in the presence of an improved catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component and an organometal compound, said solid catalyst component being obtained by the reaction of: (a) a magnesium halide, (b) a compound represented by the formula: Me(OR).sub.n X.sub.z-n where Me is any of the Group I-VIII elements of the Periodic Table, excluding Al, Si, Ti and V, R is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1-24 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom, z represents the valence of Me and n is 0&lt;n.ltoreq.z, and (c) a compound represented by the formula: Si(OR').sub.m X.sub.4-m where R' is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1-20 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom, and m is 0.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.4, and (d) a titanium compound and/or a vanadium compound. The resulting polymers are characterized by a large bulk density, a narrow range of molecular weight distribution, and small amounts of hexane extraction.

Process for polyolefins production

A process for the homopolymerization or copolymerization of olefins is disclosed, which is carried out in the presence of a catalyst system comprising the combination of at least one organometallic compound with a component resulting from the reaction of (a) a magnesium halide, (b) a compound represented by the formula, Al(OR).sub.n X.sub.3-n, where R is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X is a hydrogen atom, and n is 0.ltoreq.n.ltoreq.3, (c) a compound represented by the formula, Si(OR').sub.m X.sub.4-m, where R' is a hydrocarbon residual group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom, and m is 0.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.4, and (d) a titanium compound and/or a vanadium compound. The resulting polymers have a large bulk density and a narrow range of molecular weight distribution.

Provided is a carrier for an olefin polymerization catalyst which carrier comprises a substance obtained by adding a liquid organic compound not dissolving a magnesium halide into a liquid medium having dissolved therein a substance which contains the magnesium halide as at least one component, the liquid medium further containing an oxide of Group II-IV metal or metals in the Periodic Table, followed by cooling to a temperature not higher than 0.degree. C. and subsequent heat treatment at a temperature in the range of 40.degree. to 200.degree. C.
