An electrostatic inkjet ink composition including: a non-aqueous solvent having a dielectric constant of from 1.5 to 20 and a surface tension at 25&#xb0; C. of from 15 to 60 mN/m; a color material that is insoluble in the non-aqueous solvent; and a charge control agent that is soluble in the non-aqueous solvent, wherein the charge control agent contains a half-aside maleic acid copolymer containing repeating units represented by the formulae (Ia) and (Ib) as defined herein.

There is disclosed a liquid developer composition for electrostatic photography, which comprises, in a nonaqueous solvent having an electric resistance of 10.sup.9 .OMEGA..cm or over and a dielectric constant of 3.5 or over, a toner particle, a charge-controlling agent or resin, and an acid group containing polymer soluble in said nonaqueous solvent and/or a quaternary ammonium salt.

Liquid developer for electrostatic photography

A self-dispersing graft-copolymer capable of self-dispersion in a high-electrical insulating carrier liquid to form grains therein. The graft-copolymer is combined with a pigment or dye to provide a self-dispersing solid colorant, which is suitable as a toner or toner supply for a liquid developing agent for electrostatic photography. The colorant is also applicable to a printing ink, an ink for an ink-jet system or a coating paint composition. The colorant well self-disperses in a carrier liquid to form well dispersed grains therein without the necessity of mechanical dispersing means.

In an electrophotographic lithographic printing plate precursor comprising a photoconductive layer on an electrically conductive support having a hydrophilic surface thereon which is subjected to a process which comprises formation of a toner image on said photootoconductive layer, and then removal of said photoconductive layer from nonimage portions other than said toner image portion to form a lithographic printing plate, an electrophotographic lithographic printing plate precursor treated with a water-soluble or water-dispersible solid material (edge face treatment) at the edge face thereof and a water-soluble or water-dispersible solid adge face treatment therefor. In a preferred embodiment, the edge face treatmetment is a water-soluble or water-dispersible solid drawing material.

A non-aqueous dispersing agent comprising a graft copolymer is characterized in that monomer(s) to constitute the graft portion(s) of the graft copolymer is (are) at least one or more macromonomers each having a terminal polymerizable functional group and that the graft copolymer is substantially soluble in a high electric-resistance non-aqueous solvent having a dielectric constant of 3 or less and a volume specific resistance of 10.sup.9 .OMEGA.cm of more. The dispersing agent may sufficiently disperse any of a colorant of pigment or dye, a fixing resin-coated colorant or a fixing resin itself by wet-dispersion, and it has an excellent storage stability. The agent is therefore useful in a liquid developer for electrostatic photography or in a liquid developer for preparing printing plates.

Wet-type electrostatic photographic transferring method is disclosed, comprising developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an image-carrying member with an electrostatic photographic liquid developer containing at least toner particles and a carrier liquid, and transferring the toner image from the toner image-carrying member to a member to which the image is to be transferred, by one transferring step or a plurality of transferring steps, characterized in that the transferring step includes at least the following steps: (1) a step to substantially dry the toner image; (2) a step to supply a non-aqueous solvent having a volume resistance of at least 10.sup.9 .OMEGA..multidot.cm and a dielectric constant of not more than 3 into a clearance between the toner image-carrying member and the member to which the image is to be transferred; and (3) a step to transfer the toner image to the member to which the image is to be transferred.

A positively chargeable liquid developer to be used in making a printing plate by developing an electrostatic image formed on the surface of a printing plate precursor with a liquid developer and then by decoating the non-image area, the plate comprising a conductive base plate having provided thereon an electrophotographic photoreceptive layer, the liquid developer containing image forming particles comprising a resin which is prepared by copolymerizing monomers of formulae (I), (II) and (III) in a copolymerizing ratio of 0.1-9.9 : 90-99.8 : 0.1-10 by weight percent, the resin having a number average molecular weight ranging from 5.times.10.sup.3 to 5.times.10.sup.5 and a softening point ranging from 40.degree. A liquid developer for development of electrostatic latent images comprising a carrier liquid containing at least one copolymer of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R.sub.2 is an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl group, which may be substituted; and x and y eash is a number to satisfy the condition of x/y=0.995 to 0.80/0.005 to 0.20 on a molar basis. By incorporation of the copolymer, the transferability, dispersibility and fixability of the developer are improved.
