A vehicle brake system includes: brakes provided for respective right-side wheel, left-side wheel, front wheel and rear wheel of a vehicle, and configured to restrain rotations of the respective wheels by activations of brake actuators of the brakes; and at least two energy sources independent from each other and configured to supply energy to the brake actuators. A first brake line includes (a) a first energy source as one of the at least two energy sources and (b) one of the brake actuators provided for the front wheel and activatable by the energy supplied from the first energy source. A second brake line includes (c) a second energy source as one of the at least two energy sources and (d) three of the brake actuators provided for the respective right-side, left-side and rear wheels and activatable by the energy supplied from the second energy source.

Brake system

A vehicle motion control system for a vehicle having a single front wheel, a right wheel and a left wheel. The control system includes (a) a rollover-probability judging portion configured to judge whether or not a vehicle-body acceleration falls in a high rollover-probability region; and (b) a rollover-prevention control executing portion configured, when the acceleration falls in the high rollover-probability region, to execute a rollover prevention control for controlling motion of the vehicle so as to reduce the probability of rollover of the vehicle. The rollover-probability judging portion is configured to obtain a direction and a magnitude of the acceleration by composing a component of the acceleration in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and a component of the vehicle-body acceleration in a width direction of the vehicle. The high rollover-probability region is defined by a threshold whose amount varies depending on the direction of the vehicle-body acceleration.

Vehicle motion control system

A vehicle motion control system which is to be installed on a vehicle having a single front wheel, a right wheel and a left wheel. The control system includes: (a) a front-wheel steering device configured to steer the front wheel; (b) a braking device configured to apply a braking force to each of the wheels; and (c) a controlling device including a braking-force controlling portion configured to control the braking force that is to be applied to each of the wheels. The braking-force controlling portion includes a slip-management controlling portion configured, when the vehicle is to be braked in a direction-change situation that there is a change of a heading direction of the vehicle due to slip of at least one of the right and left wheels and/or when the vehicle is to be braked in a direction-change risk situation that there is a risk of the change of the heading direction of the vehicle, to execute a slip managing control, such that a magnitude of the braking force applied to the front wheel varies depending on a direction of turning of the front wheel.

A braking force distribution control device is provided in which wheel speeds of respective wheels of a vehicle are detected. On the basis of the detected wheel speeds, slopes of coefficients of friction &#x3bc; between the wheels and a road surface are estimated as road surface &#x3bc; slope values of the respective wheels. On the basis of the estimated road surface &#x3bc; slope values of the respective wheels, braking forces of the respective wheels are controlled such that the braking forces among the respective wheels are adjusted.

Braking force distribution control device

A brake control system and method that includes high-pressure fluid supply sources and cutoff devices for cutting off communication between a master cylinder and wheel cylinders during a control process. A determination is made whether there is inconsistency between detection values of two pressure detectors for detecting a pressure in the master cylinder and a detection value of a stroke detector for detecting a stepping-on stroke of a brake pedal. A final target deceleration of the vehicle is calculated based on the detection values that are consistent with each other and braking force of each wheel is controlled based on the final target deceleration.

Vehicle brake control system and method

The pump is connected on its delivery side through an auxiliary passage to a primary passage connecting the master cylinder and brake cylinder to each other, and a pressure control valve is provided in a portion of the primary passage between the master cylinder and a point of connection thereof to the auxiliary passage. The pressure control valve releases working fluid from the pump to the master cylinder when delivery pressure of the pump is higher than the master cylinder pressure by more than a predetermined amount, and the pump is activated when the fluid pressure generated in the brake cylinder is required to be higher than the master cylinder pressure, during brake operation.

Braking device

The present invention relates to a brake force control apparatus performing a brake assist control for generating a brake force larger than that of a normal time when an emergency braking is required and an ABS control. A start condition of the brake assist control may be established due to a vibration of a brake fluid pressure associated with an execution of the ABS control. Accordingly, when the ABS control is being performed, a start of the brake assist control is prohibited (steps,and,). Thereby, the brake assist control is prevented from being frequently started due to the vibration of the brake fluid associated with an execution of the ABS control.

Braking force control apparatus

An electrically controlled brake system for a vehicle, wherein an electric control device of the system has a device for detecting a changeover of an ignition switch from an on-state to an off-state. The electrically controlled brake system also includes a device for detecting a depression of a brake pedal beyond a predetermined depth. The brake system has a device for counting a predetermined time duration when the ignition switch changeover detection device detects a changeover of the ignition switch from the on-state to the off-state. Furthermore, the electrically controlled brake system includes a device for shutting down the electrically controlled brake system when the time count device has counted the predetermined time duration and the brake pedal depression detection device fails to detect the brake pedal depression beyond the predetermined depth.

An antilock braking control apparatus includes a regenerative braking part operatively connected with one or more traction motors of an electric vehicle for braking a plurality of wheels of the vehicle by using regenerative braking torque, a second braking part operatively connected with the wheels of the vehicle for braking the wheels by using brake fluid pressure, an antilock brake system part for performing an antilock brake system control process to control a braking force produced by either the regenerative braking part or the second braking part on the wheels to avoid slipping of the braked wheels, and a braking control part for changing a braking force produced by the other braking part on the wheels to equal zero after the antilock brake system part has started performing an antilock brake system control process relating to the former braking part.

Antilock braking control apparatus for electric vehicle

A pressure generating apparatus for a hydraulic brake system, including a master cylinder having a pressure piston which partially defines a pressure chamber and which is advanced to generate a fluid pressure in the pressure chamber in response to an operation of a brake operating member. The apparatus further includes inhibiting device having a non-operated state for allowing the pressure piston to be advanced, and an operated state for inhibiting the pressure piston from being advanced, and a pressure changing device having a pressure changing chamber communicating with the pressure chamber. The pressure changing device operates to change a volume of the pressure changing chamber and thereby change the pressure chamber pressure. A controller is provided for controlling the inhibiting device and the pressure changing device, to change the pressure in the pressure chamber while the inhibiting device is placed in the operated state.
