An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member, a first charging unit that charges a surface of the image holding member, a latent image forming unit that forms an electrostatic latent image on a charged surface of the image holding member, a second charging unit that charges a toner contained in a liquid developer, a developing unit that accommodates the liquid developer and develops the electrostatic latent image by using the liquid developer containing the toner charged by the second charging unit to form a toner image, a transfer unit that transfers the toner image to a recording medium, and a fixing unit that fixes the toner image to the recording medium. An object is to provide an image forming process, an image forming apparatus, and a color electrophotographic print that can provide a color electrophotograph that has a sufficient density in its dark area, has gloss, has a high glossiness over the entire densities covering bright areas (a white area and a highlight area), areas at intermediate densities, and dark areas (a black area and a shadow area) and can achieve high image quality equivalent to silver halide photographs. An image forming process produces an electrophotographic print which has a black density of 2.0 or more, a black color satisfying the following condition in the CIE 1976 (L*a*b*) color space: (a*)+(b*)&#x2266;9, and a 20-degree minimum glossiness of 60 or more.
