A paper sheet accommodating apparatus includes: a reel configured to supply a winded belt-like member; a drum configured to roll up a paper sheet together with the belt-like member supplied from the reel; and a transmission unit configured to transmit, at a time of roll-up of the belt-like member that is caused by rotation of the drum, rotation of the reel co-rotating with the roll-up, to the drum, to assist rotation of the drum.

A conveying-direction switching device includes: a shaft; and a plurality of blades that are pivotally supported by the shaft and that switch a conveying direction of a sheet conveyed through a conveyance path to a predetermined direction toward a delivering/discharging section for the sheet included in a housing unit that houses the sheet by winding the sheet around a drum together with a belt-like member, wherein the plurality of blades include: a first blade group that is pivotally supported in a neighborhood of a center of the shaft and that is opposed to the delivering/discharging section; and a second blade group that is pivotally supported on an outer side of the shaft as compared with the first blade group.

A paper sheet accommodation apparatus includes: a supply reel which supplies a wound band-like material; a winding drum around which a paper sheet is wound together with the band-like material supplied from the supply reel; a taking in and out section through which the paper sheet is taken in and out; and a rotating shaft that is disposed in the taking in and out section, is rotatably provided with a pulley that supports the band-like material, and has a transport roller fixed thereto, which transports the paper sheet.
