The invention provides a cathode sheet for use in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, including a composite material comprising a collector and a layer of a cathode active material provided thereon. The layer of a cathode active material includes: (a) a conductive polymer and (b) at least one selected from a polycarboxylic acid and a metal salt of a polycarboxylic acid; and the conductive polymer is a polymer in a dedoped state or in a dedoped and reduced state. The polymer constituting the conductive polymer is at least one selected from polyaniline, a polyaniline derivative, polypyrrole, a polypyrrole derivative, and polythiophene; and the polycarboxylic acid is at least one selected from polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, polyvinylbenzoic acid, polyallylbenzoic acid, polymethallylbenzoic acid, polymaleic acid, polyfumaric acid, polyglutaminic acid, polyaspartic acid, alginic acid, carboxymethylcellulose, and a copolymer including repeating units of at least two of the polymers listed herein.

An adhesive composition-supporting separator for a battery includes a porous substrate supporting thereon a thermally cross-linkable adhesive composition comprising a multi-functional isocyanate and a reactive polymer having a functional group capable of reacting with an isocyanato group of the multi-functional isocyanate; an electrode/separator laminate is obtained by contact pressing the adhesive composition-supporting separator for a battery against electrodes; and an electrode/separator bonded material having a cross-linked adhesive composition is obtained by heating the electrode/separator laminate to thereby react the multifunctional isocyanate with the reactive polymer for causing cross-linking.

The separator is a battery separator obtained by applying a polymer having in the molecule a carbodiimide unit represented by the following formula (I):&#x2014;[&#x2014;R&#x2014;N&#x2550;C&#x2550;N&#x2014;]&#x2014;&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)(wherein R means an organic group and n means an integer of 1 to 10,000) to a porous sheet substrate.

There are provided a porous film comprising a polymer composition comprising (a) a polymer having C&boxH;C double bond and an aliphatic ring having 5 to 10 carbon atoms in a main chain thereof; and (b) another resin; a porous film, wherein all or a part of C&boxH;C double bond in the (a) polymer is disappeared; and a porous film, wherein the (a) polymer and the (b) resin are cross-linked therebetween. The porous film has appropriate porosity, air permeability and puncture strength, and is especially excellent in latent heat resistance or heat resistance. Further, there are provided a process for producing the porous film; a separator for a battery comprising the porous film; and a battery comprising the separator.

Porous films and processes for the production thereof

A porous film of a laminate structure, comprising a porous inner layer comprising polyethylene as the essential component, and having formed on both surfaces thereof a porous outer layer comprising polypropylene and having a Vickers hardness of 10 or more. The porous film is suitable as a separator for a lithium battery, and when the porous film is superposed with a positive electrode and a negative electrode, the film is difficult to be scratched and perforated at the assembly of cells. A production method of the porous film is also provided.
