As the diamond crystal, a diamond crystal in a bulk form including dislocation concentration regions is formed. An interval between each of the dislocation concentration regions is from 10 nm to 4000 nm. The crystal orientation of crystal main face at the surface of the diamond crystal is any one of (100), (111), or (110). An external shape of the diamond crystal in a surface direction is a rectangle, a circle, or a circle having an orientation flat plane. The rectangle is set to have a side length of not less than 8.0 mm. The circle is set to have a diameter of not less than 8.0 mm.

[Problem] The main purpose is to provide a novel carbon-containing solid acid which has an excellent catalytic activity and of which the catalytic activity cannot be deteriorated easily even when used repeatedly. [Solution] A carbon-containing solid acid which comprises a carbonaceous material having a sulfonate group, wherein the carbonaceous material has a graphene structure in at least a part thereof and contains boron.

The TIG welding methods of the present invention include generating an electric arc between an electrode and an object to weld the object, wherein a first shielding gas including an inert gas flows toward the welded object surrounding the electrode, a second shielding gas containing an oxidative gas flows toward the welded object along a periphery of the first shielding gas, and the concentration of the oxidative gas in the second shielding gas is set such that the oxygen concentration in the welded metal portion of the welded object is within a range of 70 to 220 wt. ppm.

A welding shield gas comprising an inert gas and nitrogen gas, where the concentration of the nitrogen gas is 1 to 95 vol %; or comprising an inert gas and a helium gas, where the concentration of the helium gas is 35 to 95 vol %; or comprising an inert gas, nitrogen gas, and a helium gas, wherein the concentration of the nitrogen gas is not less than 1 vol % and less than 65 vol % and the concentration of the helium gas is 35 to 95 vol %. This shield gas can be used in the non-consumable electrode arc welding of a welded material consisting of stainless steel.

Welding shield gas and welding method

A welding device and a welding method for butt welding two pipes to be welded are provided. The welding device comprises a welding device body, having an electrode unit with a welding electrode and a fixing clamp for holding the pipes to be welded; and electrode position indicating means for indicating a position of the welding electrode with respect to the pipes to be welded. The electrode position indicating means is capable of irradiating an indicating light to the pipes to be welded at the position corresponding to the welding electrode. Therefore, the positions of the butt edge surfaces of the pipes and the welding electrode can be easily and correctly consistent so as to perform a good welding.

Welding device and method

A groove shape and an inspection method capable of securely recognizing existence of a weld flaw of a single butt weld zone by a nondestructive inspection, such as a radiograph test or an ultrasonic test, are provided. A groove shape where a concave portion is formed on a butt surface and a butt surface of pipes which are weldments to be welded is prepared and the weld zone welded by single butt welding is inspected by a nondestructive inspection such as a radiograph test or an ultrasonic test.

A stainless steel pipe which prevents a gas supplied through the pipe from being contaminated so as to maintain high degree of purity, the stainless steel pipe having a superior corrosion resistance so appropriate as to supply the gas for manufacturing semiconductors. According to the present invention, there are provided a stainless steel pipe and a joining method thereof regarding joining by butt welding, the stainless steel pipe comprising a joining portion having a butt joining portion , the butt joining portion having an outer butt joining portion in an outer wall surface portion joined by a butt welding with penetration welding portion W and, an inner butt joining portion in an inner wall surface portion joined in solid-state without being melted, such that the joining portion comprises the butt joining portion joined by the butt welding with partial penetration.

A stable aqueous sol of colloidal zirconia having lowered surface activity and useful for polishing semiconductors and the like, is prepared by a process comprising calcining a colloidal zirconia having a specific surface area of 10 to 400 m.sup.2 /g, a particle size of 20 to 500 nm and a dehydratable water content of 4 to 15% by weight at 400.degree. to 1,000.degree. C. to form a calcined zirconia having a dehydratable water content of 0.1 to 2% by weight, and pulverizing the calcined zirconia in the presence of a water-soluble acid or alkali in water, to form the stable sol of colloidal zirconia having a specific surface area of 5 to 200 m.sup.2 /g, a particle size of 20 to 1,500 nm and a dehydratable water content of 0.1 to 3% by weight. The stable sol of colloidal zirconia has a ZrO.sub.2 concentration of 5 to 80% by weight.

Aqueous zirconia sol and method of preparing same

A sintered zirconia sheet is prepared by firing a green sheet of zirconia while placing at least one weight on the sheet to apply a load thereto. Preferably a weight made of a porous material having a porosity of 5 to 30% and having a weight per unit area W (g/cm.sup.2) and a surface area S (cm.sup.2) is placed on the sheet to apply a load per unit area G (g/cm.sup.2) to the sheet under the conditions: S.ltoreq.200, G.ltoreq.5, and W/G.gtoreq.0.5. Sintered zirconia sheets free of camber, distortion or cracking are obtained, particularly when their dimensions are at least 15 cm.times.15 cm and up to 0.5 mm thick.

Preparation of sintered zirconia body

A zirconia compound comprised of zirconia powder and an organic binder which flows smoothly in a molten state is injection molded in a sprue-runnerless fashion, removed of the binder, and fired, obtaining a high density zirconia sintered body.

A sheet-forming slurry composition is composed of zirconia powder, an organic binder, and a solvent. The zirconia powder contains 2 to 10 mol % of yttria in solid solution form and has a BET specific surface area of up to about 12 m.sup.2 /g and a mean particle size multiplied by the specific surface area of up to 3 .mu.m.m.sup.2 /g. The composition is formed into a green sheet having improved flexibility, binder removal capability, sinterability, and dimensional stability, which is then fired into a sintered part having improved denseness, gas barrier property, and surface smoothness.

A zirconia ceramic composed of crystals which scarcely undergo phase transformation from tetragonal system to monoclinic in the temperature range of from 100.degree. C. to 300.degree. C. even in the presence of water vapor or water is disclosed, said zirconia ceramic comprising at least 93% by weight of partially stabilized zirconia mainly composed of tetragonal crystals and containing mainly Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 and ZrO.sub.2 at the former to the latter molar ratio of from 2/98 to 4.5/95.5 and balance of at least one of the oxides selected from the group consisting of boron oxide, germanium oxide, and gallium oxide, wherein the content of the boron oxide is 1% by weight or less.

Zirconia ceramics

Zirconia sintered bodies are produced by injection molding a zirconia composition comprising zirconia powder and an organic binder and firing the molded composition. High density sintered bodies having strength, white transparency and smoothness are obtained when zirconia powder containing 2 to 10 mol % of yttria in solid solution form and having a specific surface area of up to 12 m.sup.2 /g as measured by the BET method and a product of average particle size by specific surface area of up to 3 .mu.m.multidot.m.sup.2 /g is used.
