A method for recording an image on a thermal recording material in which a plurality of color-development layers are laminated, the plurality of color-development layers being adapted to develop different colors, respectively, upon supply of thermal energy thereto and to form a substantially black color when all of the plurality of color-development layers undergo color development with a substantially identical density. With respect to a portion where a color other than black is to be developed, recording is effected such that a color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers becomes lower than a maximum color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers. Meanwhile, with respect to a portion where black is to be developed, recording is effected such that the color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers becomes higher than a maximum value of color-development density of a portion surrounding the portion where black is to be developed. Accordingly, the density of black becomes higher than the densities of colors other than black, so that a sharp contrast is produced in the black color of the image recorded on the recording material.

Method and apparatus for recording an image on a multicolor thermal

A multicolor recording material is disclosed, which comprises a support having provided thereon at least two layers each containing a leuco dye which is capable of forming a color by oxidation and a photo-oxidizing agent, wherein the leuco dyes contained in each layer are capable of forming different color from each other and the photo-oxidizing agents contained in each layer respond to light having different wavelength from each other. Another multicolor recording material is also disclosed, which comprises a support having provided thereon a layer containing at least two kinds of heat-responsive microcapsules which have different response temperature from each other, each containing a leuco dye which is capable of forming a color by oxidation and a photo-oxidizing agent, wherein the leuco dyes contained in each kind of microcapsule are capable of forming different color from each other and the photo-oxidizing agents contained in each kind of microcapsule respond to light having different wavelength from each other.

Multicolor recording material

The present invention is applied to an electrophotographic apparatus, wherein a photosensitive body charged by a charger is exposed to light emitted from an exposer, for the formation of an electrostatic latent image, and wherein the electrostatic latent iamge is developed by a developer and the image developed by the developer is transferred on a paper sheet by a transfer charger. The transfer charger of the apparatus is made up of a converter transformer, a switching circuit for controlling the excitation of the converter transformer, and an error detector, arranged in association with the converter transformer, for detecting an error voltage corresponding to a transfer voltage. The apparatus is comprised of a separately (or externally) excited converter which outputs the transer voltage from the secondary winding of the converter transformer, an input section from which one of the print density levels that are predetermined stepwise is designated, and a control section for controlling the frequency and duty ratio of a transfer signal used for causing the switching circuit to perform a switching action, in accordance with the print densith level designated from the input section and the error voltage information supplied from the error detector.

Electrophotographic apparatus with frequency and duty ratio control

A printing device comprises a page memory and a printing section. The printing device further comprises a font stack memory and a control circuit. The font stack memory stores the combination of the character code and the attribute information corresponding to a bit map font stored in the page memory, together with the coordinate information identifying that area of the page memory in which the bit map font is stored. The control circuit receives a series of character codes together with attribute information and layout information, and checks whether or not each character code is registered in the font stack memory together with the attribute information allotted to the character code. When it is detected that the combination of the character code and the attribute information is registered, the control circuit reads out the bit map font from that memory area of the page memory which is identified by the coordinate information registered together with the combination of the character code and the attribute information, and stores the readout bit map font into that area of the page memory which is specified by the layout information allotted to the character code and the order of the character code. The printing section prints a printing pattern constituted by the bit map fonts stored in the page memory according to the series of the character codes.

A heat transfer recording medium composed of a support having provided thereon (a) microcapsules containing an oil-soluble dye dissolved in an organic solvent and (b) a sensitizer that is solid at ordinary temperature and capable of melting on heating to swell the microcapsule wall and release the dye. This heat transfer recording medium can be used as a sheet in, for example, a facsimile and a printer, for excellent gradation in printed images, and reduced fogging.
