An information processing apparatus includes: a power circuit that receives electricity supplied from a power supply; and a brightness control unit configured to control brightness of a display. The brightness control unit having reference values of brightness setting value that are setting values of the brightness: a first reference value when a power source type is an external power source; and a second reference value that is smaller than the first reference value and when the power source type is a battery. The brightness control unit setting the brightness setting value to a user setting value designated by a user in response to a user operation.

An information processing apparatus includes: a power supply unit that supplies power to a connection terminal for connection to an external device; a communication control unit that performs data communication with an external device connected to the connection terminal; an operating state detection unit that detects a signal indicating that a controller including at least the communication control unit has entered hibernation; and a power supply control unit that stops power supply to the connection terminal when the signal indicating that the controller has entered hibernation is detected by the operating state detection unit.

An information processing apparatus includes: a main control unit that executes processing based on an operating system (OS) and that changes to a low power consumption mode to stop some functions including a display unit while making a predetermined function work; a setting information storage unit that stores a usage status mode based on usage status and setting information in association with one another, where the setting information indicates whether to stop the predetermined function implemented by a device driver added to the OS in the low power consumption mode; a mode control unit that changes the main control unit to the low power consumption mode; and a change processing unit that changes a stopped state of the predetermined function.

An information processing apparatus includes a first power source generation unit configured to generate a first voltage lower than a predetermined supply voltage based on at least power supplied from a battery, from a supply voltage power source of the predetermined supply voltage, and output the first voltage as a first voltage power source; a second power source generation unit configured to generate a second voltage lower than the first voltage and used when at least a system is activated, and output the second voltage as a second voltage power source; and a power source switching unit configured to switch the supply voltage power source with the first voltage power source to supply the first voltage power source to the second power source generation unit, and cause the second power source generation unit to generate the second voltage power source from the first voltage power source.
