An internal combustion engine control device includes: a temperature acquisition unit configured to acquire the temperature of an internal combustion engine at the time when it is requested to start the internal combustion engine; a motoring execution unit configured to execute motoring of the internal combustion engine using the motor when it is requested to start the internal combustion engine; and an in-cylinder pressure control unit configured to control the in-cylinder pressure of the internal combustion engine during the motoring based on the temperature of the internal combustion engine. The in-cylinder pressure control unit is configured to execute in-cylinder pressure increase control, in which the in-cylinder pressure is increased when the temperature of the internal combustion engine is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold temperature compared to when the temperature of the internal combustion engine is higher than the threshold temperature, since the motoring is started.

A control device for a vehicle including an internal combustion engine and an electric rotary machine connected to the internal combustion engine in a power-transmittable manner is able to perform torque-down through ignition delay control for delaying an ignition timing of the internal combustion engine and regeneration control for performing regeneration using the electric rotary machine when there is a torque-down request based on a vehicle state. The control device is configured to perform torque-down corresponding to a deficiency by delaying the ignition timing of the internal combustion engine when an actual torque of the electric rotary machine through the regeneration control is deficient for the torque-down request.

A sealing structure includes an O-ring and a back-up ring. An outer diameter of the back-up ring is smaller than an inner diameter of a mounting portion of a delivery pipe. A controller of an internal combustion engine includes processing circuitry configured to execute a peak current command value calculating process of calculating a peak current command value, which is a command value of a peak current flowing through a coil, based on a detection value of a pressure in a delivery pipe, and a peak control process of controlling a value of the peak current at the peak current command value. The in-cylinder injection valve is configured to execute multi-stage injection including a first injection and a second injection carried out at a timing toward a retarding side from the first injection. A peak current command value for the second injection is larger than the peak current command value for the first injection.

Controller for internal combustion engine and method for controlling internal combustion engine

Embodiments of the present invention prevent the occurrence of rapid or intense self-ignition of fuel in an internal combustion engine that performs diesel combustion using a fuel having a relatively high self-ignition temperature. Pre-combustion is brought about by spark ignition during the compression stroke. Thereafter, main injection by an in-cylinder injection valve is performed before the top dead center of the compression stroke. In consequence, combustion of the fuel injected by the main injection is started by flame generated by the pre-combustion, and self-ignition and diffusion combustion of fuel occurs subsequently. Moreover, in at least a part of the operation range of the internal combustion engine, middle injection is performed at a time after the spark ignition of the pre-injected fuel and before the main injection. The fuel injected by the middle injection is burned by propagation of flame.

Control apparatus for internal combustion engine

An object of the present invention is to cause diesel combustion to occur with reduced smoke in an internal combustion engine using a fuel having a relatively high self-ignition temperature. A control apparatus performs first injection at a first injection time during the compression stroke, causes spray guide combustion to occur, and starts to perform second injection at such a second injection time after the occurrence of the spray guide combustion and before the top dead center of the compression stroke that causes combustion of injected fuel to be started by flame generated by the spray guide combustion, thereby causing self-ignition and diffusion combustion of fuel to occur. In an operation range in which the engine load is higher than a predetermined load, the apparatus performs third injection at such a third injection time before the first injection time during the compression stroke that causes the fuel injected by said third injection to be burned by self-ignition or diffusion combustion after the start of the second injection.

A main injection of fuel from a fuel injector into a combustion chamber is made to auto-ignite. During the compression stroke after the main injection and before the auto-ignition of the fuel injected during the main injection, a first auxiliary injection and a second auxiliary injection are successively injected from the fuel injector. By controlling the injection timing of the first auxiliary injection, the ignition timing of a spark plug, and the injection timing of the second auxiliary injection, the fuel injected during the first auxiliary injection is made to burn by flame propagation combustion by the ignition action of the spark plug, the fuel injected during the second auxiliary injection is made to be injected inside the flame propagation combustion region, and the fuel injected during the second auxiliary injection is made to burn by diffusive combustion before auto-ignition of the fuel injected during the main injection occurs.

An object of the invention is to reduce the amount of smoke generated and to improve the stability of diesel combustion in cases where an EGR apparatus is used in an internal combustion engine that performs diesel combustion using fuel having a relatively high self-ignition temperature. A control apparatus performs first injection at a first injection time during the compression stroke, causes spray guide combustion to occur, and starts to perform second injection at such a second injection time that causes combustion of injected fuel to be started by flame generated by the spray guide combustion, thereby causing self-ignition and diffusion combustion of fuel to occur. The apparatus changes the ratio of the first injected fuel quantity to the total fuel injection quantity and the ratio of the second injected fuel quantity to the total fuel injection quantity for the same total fuel injection quantity in one combustion cycle, based on the EGR rate in the intake air.

An object is to achieve stable diesel combustion and improvement in the thermal efficiency of the diesel combustion in an internal combustion engine using a fuel having a relatively high self-ignition temperature. A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel injection valve capable of injecting fuel into a combustion chamber and an ignition device whose position relative to the fuel injection valve is set in such a way that it can ignite fuel spray directly. The apparatus causes pre-injected fuel to burn and generates unburned residue of the pre-injected fuel in the combustion chamber by pre-injection performed at a predetermined pre-injection time during the compression stroke and ignition of pre-spray formed by the pre-injection by the ignition device. Then, the apparatus starts main injection at such a predetermined injection start time before the top dead center of the compression stroke that enables combustion to be started by flame generated by combustion of pre-injected fuel to cause the unburned residue of the pre-injected fuel and the main-injected fuel to burn by causing the unburned residue of the pre-injected fuel and the main-injected fuel to self-ignite and causing at least a portion of the main-injected fuel to burn by diffusion combustion.

An internal combustion engine comprising the fuel injector arranged in the combustion chamber. The primary fuel injection and the secondary fuel injection from the fuel injector are successively performed to cause autoignition of an injected fuel of the primary fuel injection and autoignition of an injected fuel of the secondary fuel injection. A temperature region suppressing change of an ignition delay time where a change of ignition delay time with respect to a rise in temperature in the combustion chamber is suppressed appears in the compression stroke at a temperature in the combustion chamber of 700K to 900K. The secondary fuel injection is performed if the temperature in the combustion chamber is a temperature within the temperature region suppressing change of the ignition delay time during the compression stroke. Internal combustion engine

A control system of an internal combustion engine which performs diffusion combustion by compression autoignition on fuel injected in a main injection in at least a partial operating range and which performs stratified combustion by spark ignition using a spark plug on fuel injected prior to the main injection. The control system determines whether or not the diffusion combustion occurs and performs combustion by spark ignition using the spark plug on the fuel injected in the main injection when it is determined that the diffusion combustion does not occur.

An object is to improve the combustion condition in an internal combustion engine equipped with a supercharger and performing diesel combustion using fuel having a relatively high self-ignition temperature in an operation state in which the engine load is increased or decreased. A control apparatus performs first injection during the compression stroke, causes spray guide combustion to occur, and starts to perform second injection at such a second injection time that combustion of injected fuel is started by flame generated by the spray guide combustion, thereby causing self-ignition and diffusion combustion of fuel to occur. During a response delay period in changing the boost pressure when changing the engine load of the internal combustion engine to a target engine load, the ratio of the quantity of fuel injected by the first injection to the total fuel injection quantity in one combustion cycle is made higher than the ratio of the quantity of fuel injected in the first injection to the total fuel injection quantity in one combustion cycle during the time when the engine load is equal to the target engine load and the actual boost pressure is equal to a target boost pressure corresponding to the target engine load.
