A battery manufacturing method includes assembling an internal terminal, a gasket, a battery case component, an insulator, and an external terminal into a state where a cylindrical part of the gasket is fitted in a mounting hole of the battery case component, a projecting part of the internal terminal is fitted in the cylindrical part of the gasket, the insulator is disposed on an outer surface of the battery case component with the projecting part fitted in a through-hole, and the external terminal is disposed on top of the insulator so as to lie on the projecting part. The external terminal is pressed against the projecting part of the internal terminal, and the external terminal or the internal terminal is vibrated to thereby weld together the projecting part and the external terminal in a solid state.

A secondary battery according to the present disclosure includes a battery case, an electrode member contained in the battery case, and a lid configured to hermetically seal the battery case. A current-carrying part, which electrically connects a collector terminal of the electrode member with an external electrode terminal, includes a displacement part configured to be displaced outward in response to a rise in an internal pressure of the battery case, the displacement part being connected to at least a part of the collector terminal. When the displacement part is displaced outward in response to the rise in the internal pressure of the battery case, the connection between the displacement part and the collector terminal is disconnected and the current-carrying part is electrically cut off from the collector terminal. In the secondary battery according to the present disclosure, the current-carrying part including the displacement part is disposed in the lid.

When a temperature inside a secondary battery becomes high and a gas pressure inside a battery case increases, an inversion plate is pressed due to the gas pressure so as to project and curve in a projecting manner toward an external terminal board. Due to such a deformation, a load is transmitted to a current interruption piece via a load transmission portion. At this time, due to a pushing-up force of the load transmission portion, a vulnerable breaking portion forming part of a peripheral edge of the current interruption piece breaks, so that the current interruption piece is displaced to bend in a V-shape via a folding portion. As a result, the secondary battery is brought into an unusable state. Such a configuration can attain simplification of a structure to interrupt a current.

A sealed battery includes a battery outer case, a collector terminal, an outwardly exposed terminal, and a current shut-off mechanism configured to cut off a conductive path from the collector terminal to the outwardly exposed terminal when the internal pressure of the battery outer case exceeds a predetermined pressure. The current shut-off mechanism includes a connection plate with a vent hole, and a shut-off valve including a reversing portion. A joint region in the connection plate is in contact with a surface, of the reversing portion, that faces the inner side of the battery outer case. A thermal-spray joint portion configured to cover a border between the joint region and the reversing portion is provided, such that the shut-off valve is joined to the connection plate via the thermal-spray joint portion.

A sealed-type battery includes an exterior body, a collector terminal, a hollow rivet defining a hollow section, and a reverse plate arranged between the collector terminal and the hollow rivet. The collector terminal includes: a projected section projected; a peripheral edge section provided; and a notch section provided in the peripheral edge section in a manner to surround the projected section and formed in a manner to reduce thickness of the collector terminal. In a projected direction of the projected section, the projected section is thicker than the peripheral edge section. A fitting section, to which the projected section is fitted, is provided in the reverse plate. The sealed-type battery includes a welded section that has a top surface opposing the hollow rivet and that joins the collector terminal and the reverse plate at a position between the projected section and the fitting section.

Sealed-type battery having a current interrupt device

A secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an external terminal electrically connecting a charge collector disposed inside a battery case with a terminal, a first part electrically connected to the charge collector, a second part electrically connected to the terminal, a first connection part electrically connecting the first part with the second part, and a second connection part electrically connecting the first part with the second part, the second connection part being different from the first connection part. The first connection part is ruptured when a displacement of the displacement part toward the outside of the battery case is transferred to the first connection part, and the second connection part becomes nonconductive when a temperature of the second connection part reaches a predefined temperature.

A first terminal including an insertion hole is placed on one side of a lid of a battery case with one or more insulating materials interposed therebetween. An inner circumferential surface defining the insertion hole includes a first rim and a second rim at a position farther away from the one or more insulating materials than the first rim is. The second rim includes an inclined surface with a recess that includes a bottom at a position set back inside the first terminal from the inclined surface. The second terminal has a shaft part inserted through a mounting hole of the lid and the insertion hole. A leading end of the shaft part is riveted, and at least a portion of the shaft part reaches into the recess.

A secondary battery comprises a flat wound electrode body, a flat-type hard case housing the wound electrode body, and a film sandwiched between them. The film is formed with thick portions each of which is located at a boundary region between a flat portion and a curved portion of the surface of the wound electrode body. When a plurality of the secondary batteries are bound, therefore, load is applied widely on almost the entire wound electrode body, thereby enabling exertion of sufficient generation capability. Thus, a secondary battery with improved battery performance is provided in which load is sufficiently applied on an electrode body. The secondary battery can also be used as a battery assembly, a battery to be mounted on a vehicle, and a battery to be mounted on a battery mounting device.
