A first authentication apparatus obtains a modification restriction parameter which is stored in a second authentication apparatus and which indicates a number of times a mutual authentication pair modification is possible or a number of times modification has been executed. The first authentication apparatus transmits to the second authentication apparatus authentication information corresponding to the modification restriction parameter. The second authentication apparatus receives the authentication information from the first authentication apparatus. The second authentication apparatus determines whether or not the received authentication information is authentication information for permitting the mutual authentication pair modification. In a case where the received authentication information is authentication information that permits the mutual authentication pair modification, the second authentication apparatus and the first authentication apparatus form a mutual authentication pair.

Technique for modifying combination of plurality of authentication apparatuses forming mutual authentication pairs

Each of the authentication apparatus and the authentication target device holds the last piece of authentication information subjected to an authentication process. When the authentication target device is reconnected to the authentication apparatus, the authentication apparatus collates the authentication information held in the authentication apparatus with the authentication information read out of the authentication target device. The authentication apparatus determines, based on the collation result, whether or not the authentication target device has been authenticated by a different authentication apparatus.

A sheet sorting device includes three or more trays including a predetermined tray detachable from an apparatus main body and a tray different from the predetermined tray, a discharge unit to discharge a sheet to any one of the three or more trays, a control unit, and a tray detection unit to detect that the predetermined tray is detached from the apparatus main body. The control unit sets a sheet discharge destination such that a sheet conforming to a preset condition is discharged to the predetermined tray through the discharge unit. A sheet feeding device includes a stacking portion, a first roller, a second roller, a third roller rotatable to provide peripheral movement in a predetermined direction and to provide peripheral movement in a direction opposite to the predetermined direction, a detecting unit, a driving unit for executing a feeding operation by the first roller, and a control unit for providing an instruction to the driving unit so as to continue or stop the feeding operation. The predetermined rotational frequency is larger than 0 and is smaller than a rotational frequency of the third roller in a period in which the third roller is rotated in the predetermined direction in a state in which a single recording material is fed to the nip.

Sheet feeding device

An image forming apparatus includes feeding, conveying, and separating members, and detecting, image forming, and control units. The feeding member feeds a recording material placed on a tray. The separating member and the conveying member separate recording materials at a nip. The detecting unit detects that the recording materials have been fed to the nip. The image forming unit forms an image on fed recording material. The control unit switches between a first and second control. Under the first control, the feeding member starts feeding a recording material placed on the tray, and ends feeding before a recording material trailing end passes through the feeding member. Under the second control, the feeding member starts feeding a recording material placed on the tray, and ends feeding after a recording material trailing end passes through the feeding member when the detection unit detects that the recording materials are fed to the nip.

Image forming apparatus and feeding device

An image forming apparatus may comprise a first feeding unit, a second feeding unit, a feeding control unit, an image forming unit, a reversal unit, a post-processing unit, and a post-processing control unit. Based on a post-processing time amount notified from the post-processing control unit, the feeding control unit does not allow a sheet to wait in the reversal unit and adjusts a feed time of a sheet fed from the first feeding unit so that the sheet fed from the first feeding unit does not contact with a sheet waiting in the second feeding unit.

An image forming apparatus includes an accommodation unit, feeding, conveying, and separating members, and detecting, control, image forming, and regulating units. The conveying member conveys a fed recording material. The separating member forms a nip and separates recording materials. The detecting unit detects that the recording material has been fed to the nip. The feeding member starts feeding an accommodated recording material and, where a recording material is fed to the nip, causes the feeding to be finished. An image is formed on a fed recording material. The regulating unit regulates an end on an upstream side. The control unit measures a period from a recording material feeding to detection that a recording material is fed to the nip. Based on the measured period, information is output indicating that a position of the regulating unit is deviated from a position according to a size of the accommodated recording materials.

A state change of a status occurred during a communication interrupted state is stored as a state change status. Thus, a video controllercan recognize the change of the status during a period when communication between the video controllerand an engine control unitis interrupted, based on the state change status.
