An organic light-emitting element according to the present invention employs a polycyclic aromatic derivative compound in a light-emitting layer inside the element, and further comprises a capping layer. Thus, the organic light-emitting element can be made highly efficient and can be useful for a device selected from among a flat panel display device, a flexible display device, a monochrome or white flat panel lighting device, and a monochrome or white flexible lighting device.

It is an object of the present invention to provide, as a material for organic EL device having high efficiency and high durability, an organic compound having excellent characteristics such as excellent electron injection/transport performance, hole blocking performance, and high stability in a film state, and an organic EL device having high efficiency and high durability, which is obtained by using this compound. A compound having a pyrimidine ring structure, the compound being represented by the following general formula (1). (In the formula, Arepresents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic group. Compound having pyrimidine ring structure and organic electroluminescence device

The present invention provides various organic electroluminescent elements using a material for a capping layer and a material for a luminous layer, in which the material for a capping layer uses an arylamine material that exhibit excellent stability and durability in the form of a thin film, especially a specific amine compound having a high refractive index and having a high absorbance within a wavelength range from 400 nm to 410 nm in the absorption spectrum at a concentration of 10mol/L; and in which the material for a luminous layer uses a compound containing a heterocyclic compound that has a specific fused ring structure.

Organic electroluminescent element

An object of the present invention is to provide, as a material for a highly efficient and highly durable organic EL element, an organic compound that has excellent properties, including excellent electron-injecting/transporting capability, hole-blocking capability, and high stability in the form of a thin film. Another object of the present invention is to provide a highly efficient and highly durable organic EL element by using this compound. The present invention focuses on the properties of the benzazole ring, which has affinity for electrons, and specifically focuses on the capability of its nitrogen atom to coordinate to a metal and also on excellent heat resistance. The inventors have thus designed and chemically synthesized various compounds having a benzazole ring structure, and then experimentally produced organic EL elements including the compounds, followed by thoroughly evaluating the characteristics thereof. As a result, it has been found that it is possible to obtain an organic EL element having excellent properties by using a specific compound having a benzazole ring structure.

The compound having an azabenzoxazole ring structure of the present invention has excellent heat resistance, and good electron-transporting capability. It is an object of the present invention to provide an organic EL element including a capping layer constituted by two layers consisting of a first capping layer and a second capping layer that has a refractive index that is higher than that of the first capping layer, in order to improve the light extraction efficiency compared with an organic EL element including a capping layer constituted by a single layer. The present invention provides an organic electroluminescent element at least including an anode, a hole transport layer, a light emitting layer, an electron transport layer, a cathode, and a capping layer arranged in this order, wherein the capping layer has a structure constituted by two layers consisting of a first capping layer and a second capping layer, a refractive index of the second capping layer is higher than a refractive index of the first capping layer throughout a wavelength range from 450 to 650 nm, and the second capping layer contains an arylamine compound having a specific structure.

Organic electroluminescence element

An object of the present invention is to provide an organic compound that has excellent properties, with excellent hole injection and transport performance, electron blocking capability, and high stability in a thin film state, and furthermore to provide a highly efficient and highly durable organic EL device by using this compound. The present invention relates to a compound having a triarylamine structure and being represented by the structural formula (A-1) below, where A, B, and C may be the same or different, and each represent a group represented by the structural formula (B-1) below, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic group, or a substituted or unsubstituted fused polycyclic aromatic group, where at least one of A, B, and C is not the group represented by the structural formula (B-1) below. There is provided an organic electroluminescence device, including at least an anode, a hole transport layer, a light-emitting layer, an electron transport layer, and a cathode in the stated order, the organic electroluminescence device being characterized in that the hole transport layer contains an arylamine compound represented by formula (1), and the light-emitting layer contains a heterocyclic compound having a fused ring structure represented by formula (2) or a heterocyclic compound having a fused ring stricture represented by formula (3), wherein each of formulas (1), (2) and (3) are set forth in the specification.
