A method for producing spherical silica particles according to the present disclosure includes: a raw material silica particle preparation step of preparing a liquid dispersion of raw material silica particles from a raw material solution obtained by dissolving silicic acid in a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent in the presence of a basic substance; and a heating step of heating the liquid dispersion or the raw material silica particles so as to remove an organic substance contained in the liquid dispersion, thereby preparing spherical silica particles. The mixed solvent has a relative permittivity of 21 or higher and 40 or lower, and a quaternary ammonium derived from the basic substance is blended in a blending ratio of 0.3 or higher and 0.8 or lower in terms of molar ratio with respect to a silicon element derived from the silicic acid.

Method for producing spherical silica particles

An object is to provide a novel method for producing spherical silica particles having fine voids. That is, spherical silica particles according to the present disclosure contain silica as a main component, have an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 10.0 μm, a true specific gravity of 0.9 to 1.9 g/cm, the true specific gravity being measured with nitrogen gas, a pore volume of 0.1 mL/g or lower, an Na content of 10 ppm or lower, and a true specific gravity retention rate of 80% or higher, the true specific gravity retention rate being measured with nitrogen gas and being a rate between before and after pressurization is performed at 300 MPa for 1 minute, and include, in an existence proportion of 60% or lower, particles in each of which a maximum value among major axes of internal voids is not smaller than half a major axis of the particle.

Spherical silica particles, slurry composition, resin composition, and method for producing spherical silica particles

A filler for electronic material according to the present invention has a silica particle material produced by a dry method, wherein D50 is 0.2 μm or greater and 7.0 μm or less. Further, in the filler for electronic material according to the present invention, (BET specific surface area)/(theoretical specific surface area calculated from D50) is 0.85 or greater and 1.2 or less (requirement 1), and/or D10/D50 is 0.55 or greater and 0.75 or less (requirement 2). When at least one of the requirements 1 and 2 is satisfied, electric characteristics such as a Df value are improved. Here, the BET specific surface area is a value measured by using nitrogen, and D50 is a 50 mass % cumulative diameter, i.e., a median diameter, and means a particle diameter at 50 mass % when the masses of particles are sequentially integrated from smaller particle diameters. Similarly, D10 is a 10 mass % cumulative diameter.

Filler for electronic materials and method for producing same, slurry for electronic materials, and resin composition for electronic materials

A particle material that has high dispersibility in a dispersion medium such as toluene having high hydrophobicity, and a slurry composition in which the particle material is used, are provided for solving the problem. A surface-modified particle material of the present invention includes: a particle material formed of an inorganic material; and a surface treatment agent formed of a silane compound having a first functional group that has any of C, N, and O atoms away over five or more atoms from Si to which an alkoxide is bound, the surface treatment agent allowing surface treatment of the particle material in such an amount that a degree of hydrophobicity becomes not less than 30%. Dispersibility is enhanced also in a dispersion medium having high hydrophobicity in a case where a functional group having a predetermined structure is introduced so as to impart predetermined or higher hydrophobicity.

A fuel cell separatorhaving a metal plate and an anticorrosion resin coating layerformed thereon is provided, with which adhesion between the resin coating layerand its counterpart member is further increased and the durability of a fuel cell unit is improved. In forming the fuel cell separatorhaving a separator substratethat is a metal plate and an anticorrosion resin coating layerformed thereon, the resin coating layeris formed such that it has a surface roughness Ra of 0.5 to 13.5 &#x3bc;m. Increasing the surface roughness will produce an anchoring effect, which will improve the adhesive force at the interface. The aforementioned surface roughness Ra can be obtained either with the use of fillers that are mixed into the resin coating layeror with external force applied to the surface of the resin coating layerby means of shot blasting, for example.

Fuel cell separator and method for manufacturing the same

A uniform and dense resin coat is formed on a surface of a peripheral region of a fuel cell separator. However, the formed resin coat may contain defects (holes). With the present invention, however, any such defects in the resin coat are coated with a metal coat. That is, when depositing metal in complex ions on the fuel cell separator by an electrodeposition process, the metal is adhered not only to a power generation region but also to a portion where the surface (separator base material surface) is exposed by the defects of the resin coat, thereby forming the metal coat on the defects. Thus, it is possible to improve the corrosion resistance of the fuel cell separator as compared to the case that the surface of the separator base material is exposed at the portions of the defects of the resin coat.

In fuel cell separator, the periphery of manifold through which fuel gas, reaction water, etc., pass and the seal line being a site of bonding with an adjacent separator are provided with a resin layer. Within the surface of the separator, the resin application site on which the resin layer is formed undergoes subbing treatment in advance to thereby increase the capability of bonding with the resin. When the resin layer consists of a resin having an NH group, as the subbing treatment, hydroxide deposition treatment is carried out on the surface of the separator.

Process for producing separator and separator

The method of surface treatment, as applied onto a metal base material, of the present invention includes a reduction treatment step of reduction-treating the oxide film formed on the metal base material and an oxidation treatment step of oxidation-treating the oxide film having been subjected to the reduction treatment.
