An article sorting control apparatus includes a memory, a processor, and a communication interface. The memory stores sorting destination management information including reference conveyance route information, fixed sorting destination information, and dynamic sorting destination information. The processor selects a first diverging control signal or a second diverging control signal. The communication interface transmits the first or the second diverging control signal to an article sorting apparatus.

A conveying system includes a robot apparatus, a second conveyor, and a controller. The robot apparatus has a holding unit configured to hold a package, and an arm configured to move the holding unit, and is located next to a first conveyor extending in a first direction, in a second direction, which is different from the first direction. The second conveyor is located next to the robot apparatus, in the first direction, and is configured to convey the package in the second direction toward the first conveyor. The controller is configured to control the robot apparatus so as to retrieve the package from an accumulation unit for the package and place the retrieved package on the second conveyor.

According to one embodiment, a conveying apparatus includes: a conveyor configured to convey a conveyed item at a predetermined speed; a first gap detector provided midway in the conveyor, the first gap detector being configured to detect a first preceding gap between the conveyed item and a preceding conveyed item that is conveyed immediately before the conveyed item, and a following gap between the conveyed item and a following conveyed item that is conveyed immediately behind the conveyed item; at least two speed adjusters provided midway in the conveyor downstream from the first gap detector, the speed adjusters being configured to adjust a conveying speed of the conveyed item.
