A motorcycle includes a vehicle-side control unit that determines whether or not identification information from an electronic key conforms to identification information on a side of a vehicle. An ignition switch unit allows at least starting operation of an engine and unlocking operation of a handlebar, in accordance with a situation where the identification information from the electronic key conforms to the identification information on the side of the vehicle. The vehicle-side control unit and the ignition switch unit are disposed on one side of a head pipe of the vehicle. The vehicle-side control unit is disposed in the vicinity of the head pipe, and below the ignition switch unit.

A switch, which returns a switch lever to a rotation neutral position by a force for pressing a steel ball against left and right slopes, includes a guide plate portion that is provided in a switch case, does not come into contact with the switch lever during a rotational operation of the switch lever and a pushing operation at the rotation neutral position, and comes into contact with the switch lever during the pushing operation in a state in which the switch lever is tilted from the rotation neutral position. The guide plate portion forms a second slope that is disposed so as to return the switch lever, which comes into contact with the second slope, to the rotation neutral position.

A motorcycle includes an ignition switch unit that allows at least starting operation of an engine and unlocking operation of a handlebar by operation of an ignition knob after restriction of turning of the ignition knob by a lock mechanism is canceled when electronic authentication is conducted. An emergency release mechanism is configured to directly or indirectly allow the starting operation of the engine by an emergency release key regardless of the electronic authentication. The emergency release key has a rod-like grip portion, and a magnet key provided to a lateral on a side of an end of the grip portion. A keyhole for the magnet key of the emergency release mechanism is arranged in a direction opposed to an insertion direction of the emergency release key.

An engine control apparatus includes a first operation member and a second operation member for braking a front wheel and a rear wheel of a saddle-type vehicle, and an engine controller that automatically stops and restarts an engine mounted in the saddle-type vehicle in response to the operational state of the first operation member and the second operation member. When a prescribed amount of time has passed while the first operation member and the second operation member are both in an operated state, the engine controller automatically stops the engine; when the first operation member and the second operation member are both released, the engine controller restarts the engine; and when either one of the first operation member and the second operation member is operated after the engine has automatically been stopped, the engine controller allows the engine to continue in the automatically stopped state.
