The present invention can realize better cutting performance while suppressing an influence of, for instance, deflection of a head and an increase in a moment acting on a fastening mechanism even when a cutting insert of a long total length is used. A shank of a head replaceable type cutting tool includes: a fastening mechanism that is formed at a leading end part in a longitudinal direction of the shank, and attaches a head; and a recessed part that is formed at the leading end part so as to accommodate a part of a cutting insert held by the head and avoid an interference with the cutting insert. The recessed part may be provided to accommodate a non-use part of the cutting insert held by the head in a state where the head is attached to the leading end part, and avoid an interference with the cutting insert.

Chip discharge during high-feed machining and low-feed machining particularly in a high-depth-of-cut state or the like is improved so as to provide adaptability to a wide range of cutting conditions during low depth and high depth cutting and during low-feed and high-feed machining and allow so-called freedom of feed during cutting to be improved. A cutting insert includes a cutting edge body and a substrate to which the cutting edge body is joined. The cutting edge body has a prismatic shape having a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and includes a cutting edge formed on an intersecting edge between a peripheral side surface and an upper surface of the cutting edge body having the prismatic shape and a recessed part formed at a position on the upper surface of the cutting edge body which is more distant from the intersecting edge than from the cutting edge. The substrate has a projected part upwardly projecting from the upper surface of the cutting edge body.

Cutting insert

There is provided a cutting insert having a low possibility that chips roughen a machined surface of a workpiece in back turning. The cutting insert includes a rake surface, a peripheral side surface, a front cutting edge which is provided on a ridge of the rake surface and the peripheral side surface, and a main cutting edge which is provided on the ridge so as to be continuous with the front cutting edge and has an extension direction which forms an obtuse angle with an extension direction of the front cutting edge, the main cutting edge is curved into a U shape over an entire length of an effective edge range which functions as a cutting blade, and the deepest point of the U shape is positioned in a range closer to a side of a corner than a position which divides a straight line connecting both ends of the main cutting edge at a ratio of 2:1 from the side of the corner positioned adjacent to the front cutting edge.

Provided is a cutting tool that implements both high positioning accuracy and simple operation when the cutting tool is installed in a tool rest. The cutting has: a tool a main body which includes a fixing seat fixing a cutting insert or a cutting edge; and a position pin, which includes a cylindrical portion that is used for positioning the main body by being abutted to an abutting surface of a tool rest in a case of installing the main body in the tool rest, and which is detachable from the main body. The main body includes a female screw hole that is provided with a female screw portion and a tapered surface that is symmetric with respect to a center axis of the female screw portion and that widens toward an opening thereof. The positioning pin includes a male screw portion that engages with the female screw portion, and a contact portion located at a connecting portion that connects an end of the cylindrical portion and an end of the male screw portion. In a case where the male screw portion is engaged with the female screw portion and the positioning pin is installed in the main body, the contact portion contacts the tapered surface, and a center axis of the cylindrical portion and a center axis of the tapered portion match with each other.

Cutting tool

Chip discharge during high-feed machining and low-feed machining particularly in a high-depth-of-cut state or the like is improved so as to allow so-called freedom of feed during cutting to be improved. A cutting edge body of a cutting insert includes a front cutting edge formed on one end side in a longitudinal direction, the front cutting edge being a cutting edge formed on an intersecting edge between a peripheral side surface and an upper surface of the cutting edge body having a prismatic shape, a side cutting edge formed on one end side in a lateral direction, a recessed part provided in the upper surface of the cutting edge body to be subsequent to the side cutting edge in the lateral direction, and a wall part having a wavy wall surface formed in a portion of the recessed part and a discrete wall surface formed at a position between the wavy wall surface and the side cutting edge and including a plurality of surfaces which are discrete along the longitudinal direction.

A cutting insert and a cutting tool which can suppress lowering of blade-edge positional accuracy while holding by a holder having a small thickness is enabled are provided. The cutting insert includes a first end surface, a second end surface, and a peripheral side surface connected to the first end surface and the second end surface and having a rake face, a flank, and a cutting edge formed in a connection region between the rake face and the flank, and a through hole penetrating the first end surface and the second end surface is formed. It is the cutting insert including a first contact surface substantially perpendicular to a center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, a second contact surface substantially in parallel with the center axis direction of the through hole, substantially perpendicular to a plane including the first contact surface and capable of contacting the holder, and a third contact surface inclined with respect to the center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, and a cutting tool including the cutting insert as above.

Cutting insert and cutting tool

Provided is a cutting insert having two cutting parts that is capable of entering a workpiece more deeply and easily supports machining of a groove or hole having a small diameter in a workpiece. A cutting insert includes: a body having at least an inner surface to be fixed to a tool body of a cutting tool and an outer surface opposed to the inner surface; and two cutting parts protruding in opposite directions in a longitudinal direction of the body. The cutting part includes: a cutting upper surface; a cutting front surface; and a first cutting side surface and a second cutting side surface. A front cutting edge is located on an edge between the cutting upper surface and the cutting front surface. In a projection view of the body as seen from the longitudinal direction, the cutting upper surfaces of the two cutting parts are oriented in directions opposed to each other, and front cutting edges of the two cutting parts are disposed so as to be more away from each other as being closer to the first cutting side surface from the second cutting side surface.
