In an image forming apparatus, rotation of an image bearing member is started and stopped in a contact state between the image bearing member and a developing member. During a post-rotation operation, a controller ends application of a charging voltage after changing the charging voltage stepwisely to first and second charging voltages. The controller ends application of a developing voltage after changing the developing voltage stepwisely at a developing position to first and second developing voltages in synchronism with the first and second charging voltages. A potential difference between each of surface potentials of first and second regions and an associated one of the first and second developing voltages is maintained within a predetermined range. The controller carries out control so that an absolute value of the surface potential of at least one of the first and second regions is made low by passing a current under application of a transfer voltage.

Image forming apparatus with control of plural power sources

A bearingless motor includes a rotor, a stator for applying support force and torque to the rotor, and a first displacement sensor and a second displacement sensor for detecting a radial position of the rotor. The stator includes a motor winding for generating a magnetic flux having p poles to produce the torque, and a support winding for generating a magnetic flux having p±2 poles or two poles to produce the support force. The first displacement sensor and the second displacement sensor are disposed at positions axially different from each other.

The mover assembly unit further comprises windings of wire wrapped around the ferromagnetic laminated structures and the non-ferromagnetic core.

A controller is configured to control a drive unit and a heating element to execute a first mode and a second mode. Dose distribution calculation device, particle beam therapy system, and dose distribution calculation method

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member and transfer and control units. The transfer unit and image bearing member form a nip portion where a recording material receives a toner image. The control unit controls image formation based on a timing when a recording material leading edge is detected. To perform sheet conveyance, the control unit changes a first recording material conveyance speed to a second speed before a fed first recording material leading edge is detected. Before the first recording material leading edge reaches the nip portion, the control unit changes the first recording material conveyance speed to a first speed, slower than the second speed, based on when the fed first recording material leading edge is detected. The control unit obtains a timing for the image formation to the image bearing member based on when the conveyance speed is changed from the faster to slower speed.

Particle beam irradiation apparatus

A particle beam irradiation apparatus radiates a particle beam plural times per one irradiation position. A storage unit stores a dose to be radiated each of the times (divisional target dose). A dose monitor measures the dose of the particle beam radiated to the irradiation position. At the first time of radiation, a controller outputs an interruption signal when the dose measured by the dose monitor reaches the divisional target dose. The dose monitor measures a dose (excessive dose) radiated after the interruption signal is outputted until the particle beam is actually interrupted. Then, it is defined: Corrected Dose value=Divisional Target Dose&#x2212;Excessive Dose Value. Instead, it may be defined: Corrected Dose value=Divisional Target Dose&#x2212;Excessive Dose Estimation Value. At the second time of radiation, the controller outputs an interruption signal when the dose measured by the dose monitor reaches the corrected dose value.

A particle beam irradiation apparatus includes an accelerator that extracts a pulse-shaped particle beam and a switching system that switches a particle beam to prevent irradiation of a subject. The apparatus also includes a database in which a time dependency of the number of particles in one pulse of the particle beam is stored in association with a driving condition of the accelerator. A computer processor calculates a timing of switching by the switching system, based on a desired accumulated number of particles to be irradiated onto the irradiation subject and the time dependency of the number of particles in one pulse of the particle beam, and a switching controller controls the switching system based on the timing of switching calculated by the computer processor.
