A mass spectrometer includes a vacuum chamber, a turbomolecular pump, and a roughing pump. The vacuum chamber is divided into a low vacuum chamber and a high vacuum chamber respectively provided with, on their wall surfaces, a first opening and a second opening. The turbomolecular pump has an operation chamber including in its inside a blade rotor and being provided with a first intake port, and an exhaust chamber communicating with the operation chamber and being provided with a second intake port and an exhaust port. The turbomolecular pump is placed so that the high vacuum chamber and the operation chamber communicate with each other through the second opening and the first intake port, and the low vacuum chamber and the exhaust chamber communicate with each other through the first opening and the second intake port. The roughing pump is connected to the exhaust port.

Mass spectrometer

A lead-in electrode, of an orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer, includes: a main body having an ion passing part and a first member including a main-body accommodating part that is a through-hole. One surface of the first member includes an extension part to define a position of one surface of the main body. A second member is attached to the first member. A through-hole is provided at a position of the second member. One surface of the second member includes a first area in contact with a surface opposite to the one surface of the first member and a second area located inside with respect to the first area. The second area is formed lower than a surface, of the first area, in contact with the surface opposite to the one surface. A lead-in electrode elastic member is disposed, in the second area, between the first member and second members.

Orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer and lead-in electrode for the same

The present invention provides a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS) taken measures for preventing a deterioration in accuracy caused at the time of transportation to an installation site. A time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS) for performing mass separation based on the time of flight of an ion flying in a flight space includes an ion transportation unit () configured to transport an ion, an acceleration unit (expulsion electrode () and the like) configured to receive the ion transported by the ion transportation unit and accelerate the ion to introduce the ion into the flight space, a flight unit incorporating the flight space, a first vacuum vessel (A) enclosing the ion transportation unit, the acceleration unit, and at least a part of the flight unit, a chassis () on which the first vacuum vessel (A) is placed, and a reflector unit () to which a reflector (reflection ()) and a second vacuum vessel () are fixed, the reflection () being configured to reverse the flight trajectory of the ion accelerated by the acceleration unit and introduced into the flight space, and the second vacuum vessel () being attachable to an end of the first vacuum vessel (A) and enclosing the reflector. Since the reflector unit () is separated from other parts during transportation, the other parts are easily moved by, for example, casters () disposed on the chassis (), and the reflector unit () is moved without being affected by the vibrations caused by the movement on the casters ().

Liquid sample introduction system for ion source

The ionization chamber of the mass spectrometer is movable between the maintenance position for performing maintenance of the mass spectrometer unit and the analysis position for performing sample analysis, using a shielding plate synchronized with the motion of the ionization chamber where the shielding plate closes part of the aperture of the predetermined region when the ionization chamber is in the analysis position, whereas the shielding plate opens part of the aperture of the predetermined region when the ionization chamber is in the maintenance position so that connection tubes may pass through the part of the aperture of the predetermined region.
