Provided is an optical information reading device that can reduce an installation load on a user, and can accurately read a code provided to each of various workpieces. A polarized illumination light source includes light emitters that irradiate the workpiece with illumination light through a polarization filter. A non-polarized illumination light source includes light emitters that irradiate the workpiece with illumination light without through a polarization filter. An imaging element is provided with a polarization filter having a polarization direction different from a polarization direction of the polarization filter of the light emitters. Either of the polarized illumination light source and the non-polarized illumination light source is used in accordance with the workpiece.

Optical information reading device

In an optical information reader, an entire size is reduced while a space for accommodating an imaging unit, a space for accommodating a cable of an external interface, and a space for accommodating plural boards in which circuits of a signal processing unit are accommodated are secured. An entire size of a housing is determined based on sizes of a main board and an imaging unit to realize an optical information reader having a minimum shape. The main board has the largest area as a board, and a CPU and a memory are mounted thereon. The imaging unit includes a camera module, a lighting LED unit, and a marker. The main board is disposed near an internal wall of a housing. Other functions are functionally divided into sub-boards and disposed around a frame body, and a connection portion to the cable is accommodated in the frame body to achieve miniaturization.

Optical information reader

An optical unit for an optical symbol reader comprises an optical scanner for scanning an optical symbol with the laser beam emitted by a light source, by angularly oscillating a reflection face for reflecting the laser beam owing to an electromagnetic force. The optical scanner comprises a loose bearing structure having a shaft and a bearing bore and supporting a rotor having the reflection face to angularly oscillate freely with respect to a base. A certain bearing gap is formed between an outer diameter of the shaft and an inner diameter of the bearing bore. The optical scanner further comprises a coil spring resiliently for urging the rotor in a predetermined direction so that a part of an outer circumferential face of the shaft may be contacted with an inner circumferential face of a bearing bore.
