To provide a method for inspecting a gas leak from a fuel cell stack, whereby a leak position can be efficiently identified in a short time. A method for inspecting a gas leak from a fuel cell stack includes a jig installation step of installing a division jig that covers an outer surface, on which stacked end faces of the fuel cell stack are exposed, that divides the outer surface into a plurality of regions, and that includes a plurality of inspection spaces on each divided region. The method further includes a first leak inspection step of identifying a leak region, in which the gas leak occurs, with a gas sensor arranged in each of the inspection spaces.

Method for inspecting gas leak from fuel cell stack

A fuel cell includes a power generation unit. A first resin frame member is provided in an outer portion of a first membrane electrode assembly of the power generation unit. The first metal separator has a heating portion subjected to spot heating from a surface of the first metal separator for allowing the first resin frame member to be melted partially. The first metal separator and the first membrane electrode assembly are welded together by a plurality of welding portions to form a first structural body.

Fuel cell

A membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell includes a membrane electrode assembly and a resin frame member. The membrane electrode assembly includes a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The first electrode includes a first catalyst layer and a first gas diffusion layer. The second electrode includes a second catalyst layer and a second gas diffusion layer. The resin frame member includes an outer peripheral portion and an inner peripheral projection. A first space includes a gap between an outer peripheral end face of the second gas diffusion layer and an inner-side end face of the inner peripheral projection. A second space includes a gap between an outer peripheral end face of the first gas diffusion layer and an inner-side wall face of the outer peripheral portion. The first space has a dimension different from a dimension of the second space.
