A hydraulic operating device is provided for a human-powered vehicle. The hydraulic operating device basically includes a base, an operating member and a handlebar mounting structure. The base includes a cylinder bore defining a cylinder axis. The operating member is pivotally coupled to the base about a pivot axis between a rest position and an operated position. The handlebar mounting structure is coupled to the base. The handlebar mounting structure defines a handlebar mounting axis that extends linearly along a handlebar in a mounted state. The cylinder axis is inclined towards the handlebar mounting axis as the cylinder bore extends away from the pivot axis as viewed in a pivot axis direction parallel to the pivot axis. The pivot axis is located in an area between the cylinder axis and the handlebar mounting axis as viewed in the pivot axis direction.

An operating device for a human-powered vehicle comprises a base member, an operating member, a first substrate, and a second substrate. The operating member is movably coupled to the base member. The communication unit is connected to the controller and arranged to communicate with an external device. The controller is configured to communicate with an assist mechanism of a bicycle, where the assist mechanism includes an assist motor arranged to impart a supplemental drive force to the bicycle. The controller is programmed to set a control state and to adjust a response speed of the assist motor based on an operation of the external device.

The controller is arranged to communicate with an assist mechanism of a bicycle. The assist mechanism includes an assist motor arranged to impart a supplemental drive force to the bicycle to supplement a manual drive force of the bicycle. The controller is programmed to alternately set a first control state or a second control state. The controller controls the assist motor such that an output state of the assist motor with respect to a manual drive force of the bicycle is different in the first control state than in the second control state.

A bicycle operating device comprises a base member made of a resin material. The base member includes an outer surface, a cylinder bore, and at least one recess provided on the outer surface to define a cylinder wall between the cylinder bore and the at least one recess. The cylinder wall has a cylinder-wall thickness defined between the cylinder bore and the at least one recess. The cylinder-wall thickness is equal to or larger than 1 mm and equal to or smaller than 3.5 mm.

A bicycle drive unit is basically provided with a crankshaft and a housing. The housing includes a synthetic resin first portion, a synthetic resin second portion and a metallic third portion. The synthetic resin first portion supports a first end of the crankshaft. The synthetic resin second portion supports a second end of the crankshaft. The metallic third portion is disposed in between the synthetic resin first portion and the synthetic resin second portion. The metallic third portion defines an internal space of the housing along with the synthetic resin first portion and the synthetic resin second portion.

A non-metallic bracket for a bicycle hydraulic component is basically provided with a non-metallic body and a force receiving member. The non-metallic body has a hydraulic hose attachment port and an internal fluid passage. The hydraulic hose attachment port has an insertion opening disposed at an exterior surface of the non-metallic body and an internal attachment bore extending from the insertion opening towards the internal fluid passage. The internal attachment bore of the hydraulic hose attachment port includes an internal screw thread portion that threadedly receives a hose fastening fitting. The force receiving member is provided to the non-metallic body so as to receive force applied to the non-metallic body in an area of the hydraulic hose attachment port caused by screwing the hose fastening fitting into the internal screw thread portion of the non-metallic body.

Non-metallic bracket

A bicycle hydraulic device is basically provided with a base member, a first plug and a second plug. The base member has a hydraulic fluid passageway, a first opening communicating with the hydraulic fluid passageway and a second opening communicating with the hydraulic fluid passageway. The first plug is disposed in the first opening, and having a receiving hole. The second plug is disposed in the second opening. The second plug has a protrusion extending into the receiving hole of the first plug to couple the first and second plugs to the base member.
