Provided is an ignition system including: a main primary coil; a main IC configured to switch a main primary coil mode between an energization mode and a de-energization mode; a sub primary coil; a sub IC configured to switch a sub primary coil mode between an energization mode and a de-energization mode; a secondary coil; a detection unit configured to detect a state of the main primary coil; and a control unit configured to determine whether a state of a sub primary current path is normal or abnormal based on the state of the main primary coil detected by the detection unit, the sub primary current path being a current path of a sub primary current flowing through the sub primary coil.

Ignition system

There is provided an ignition apparatus that makes it possible that after a spark discharge starts, a secondary current is reduced so that a plug is suppressed from being consumed. The ignition apparatus is provided with an ignition coil including a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a tertiary coil, a first switching circuit for performing on/off-switching of energization of the primary coil from a power source, a second switching circuit for performing on/off-switching of energization of the tertiary coil, and a controller that performs on/off-control of the first switching circuit so as to generate a secondary current in the secondary coil, thereby causing a spark discharge in an ignition plug, and then turns on the second switching circuit so as to reduce the secondary current through a change in flux in the tertiary coil.

Ignition apparatus

To provide an ignition apparatus which can turn on and off the sub primary coil according to extension degree of the discharge path of the spark discharge. An ignition apparatus is provided with an ignition coil that is provided with a main primary coil, a sub primary coil which generates energization magnetic flux of a direction opposite to the energization magnetic flux of the main primary coil, and a secondary coil which is magnetically coupled with the main primary coil and the sub primary coil and supplies spark discharge energy to a spark plug; and after turning off energization to the main primary coil, based on a detection value of terminal voltage of the main primary coil, turns on and off the sub switch circuit to turn on and off energization to the sub primary coil and additionally supply spark discharge energy to the secondary coil.

A resonant inverter includes: an input capacitor; an inverter; a snubber circuit; a transformer having a primary winding connected to an AC end of the inverter; a resonant coil, a resonant capacitor, and a current sensor on the secondary winding side of the transformer; and a control unit, wherein, on the basis of current detected by the current sensor, the control unit controls switching elements so as to perform zero voltage switching at the time of turning-on, at a frequency at which a load including the resonant coil and the resonant capacitor becomes capacitive, and performs power regeneration of energy stored in a snubber capacitor to a DC voltage source.

Resonant inverter

In order to transmit high frequency energy to a coupling circuit, if the high frequency energy is transmitted via a harness provided with a high-voltage cable, the loop in which the high frequency energy is conducted is long, and thus, noise occurring from the loop is increased. Thus, shielding is needed to be provided to the entire apparatus. The present invention has a structure in which: a high frequency energy supply circuit and a coupling circuit are connected by a connection member; and a housing having therein the high frequency energy supply circuit is integrated with a housing having therein the coupling circuit. Accordingly, the entire apparatus can be downsized and noise occurring from the loop can be reduced.

High frequency discharge ignition apparatus

There is provided an internal combustion engine ignition device which comprises a switching element for causing or interrupting flow of a current through a primary coil of an ignition coil; a secondary current detection circuit connected to a secondary coil for detecting a secondary current flowing at the time of ignition; an ion current detection circuit for detecting an ion current generated after the ignition; and an energy consumption circuit which is activated based on an output signal from the secondary current detection circuit that is output when the secondary current exceeds a predetermined threshold value, to constitute a circuit for discharging energy stored in the ignition coil.

Internal combustion engine ignition device

A plasma ignition device comprising: an ignition plug; an ignition circuit applying a high voltage to the plug to start discharge; a power supply circuit including a battery section for supplying an electric energy to a discharge space of the plug having impedance reduced by discharge start, and a charging section charging the battery section with a boosted voltage by a booster circuit, wherein the power supply circuit including: a first meansfor stopping a boosting operation of the booster circuit when the charging section voltage is equal or higher than a first reference for high-voltage abnormality; a second meansfor detecting the charging section abnormal voltage by comparison with a second reference for low-voltage abnormality for detecting ground to conduct a given control on the power supply circuit; a third meansfor invalidating the control of the second means until the charging section is sufficiently charged.

Plasma ignition device for internal combustion engine

A plasma power supply circuit includes a DC/DC converter connected to a DC power supply and outputting a DC voltage, a voltage limit circuit limiting an output voltage from the DC/DC converter to a predetermined value, a PJ capacitor connected to an output end of the DC/DC converter and charged with electric energy used to generate a plasma in a discharge space of the spark plug, and a high-voltage switch connected between the PJ capacitor and the DC/DC converter and controlled to switch ON and OFF so that a charge period of the PJ capacitor is controlled according to running conditions of the internal combustion engine. Hence, the plasma ignition device can prevent damage on an electronic component incorporated therein even at the occurrence of a short and lessen damage on the internal combustion engine caused by an erroneous plasma jet ejection, wearing of the spark plug, and power consumption.

Plasma ignition device

To provide a plasma ignition system that can prevent damage on an internal combustion engine due to erroneous ejection of a plasma jet, and further, even when the required voltage of an ignition plug becomes lower, can prevent erroneous ignition by the charged voltage of a PJ capacitor. A plasma power supply circuit of the plasma ignition system includes a voltage-limiting circuit having a first set voltage having an absolute value lower relative to the discharge voltage of the ignition coil, and a second set voltage having an absolute value higher relative to the discharge voltage of the ignition coil, and the first set voltage and the second set voltage are selectively switched according to an operation condition of the internal combustion engine.

Plasma ignition system

There is obtained an ignition apparatus, for an internal combustion engine, that can make a predetermined output current flow in a stable manner so that the combustion state of the internal combustion engine can always be maintained in a good condition, even in the case where the voltage of the power source connected with the energy storing coil fluctuates. There are provided an energy storing coil (), a switching means (S) for accumulating energy, an ignition coil (), and a switching means (S) that turns on/off an ignition current; the switching means (S) and (S) are alternately turned on/off so that a current with a alternating polarity is made to flow continuously in the ignition coil (); a switching means (S) is connected both terminals of the energy storing coil (); and when a current flowing in the energy storing coil () reaches a target value, the switching means (S) is turned off and the switching means (S) is turned off so that the energy storing coil current circulates through the switching means (S) so as to keep the current to be approximately the target value.

Ignition apparatus for internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine ignition device is provided in which an ECU () includes a pulse generation circuit () that outputs pulse signals (Igtand Igt) and an ion-signal detection/control circuit (), and a coil driver () includes a pulse detection circuit () that recognizes a signal received from the pulse generation circuit () and an ion-current detection circuit (); when the pulse signals are not outputted, an ion current is detected and a signal is outputted at the same line as a coil-driver input signal line.

An ignition device, including: an ignition coil () having a primary coil and a secondary coil; a switching element () for causing a primary current to be conducted through and shut off from the primary coil of the ignition coil; a waveform shaping circuit () for shaping a waveform of an ignition signal transmitted from an outside through a signal line to supply a conduction signal thus obtained to the switching element; ion current detecting means () connected to the secondary coil of the ignition coil, for detecting an ion current flowing through the secondary coil; and ion signal generating means () for outputting an ion signal, which indicates the ion current detected for a predetermined period after the conduction signal of the waveform shaping circuit has been turned off, to the outside through the signal line while invalidating the conduction signal from the waveform shaping circuit.

Ignition device of ignition control system for an internal combustion engine

An ignition apparatus for an internal combustion engine can be produced at low cost and small size by preventing the generation of a spark at a spark plug due to a turn-on voltage with a simple ignition coil construction having no energy loss. The apparatus include an ignition coil having a primary coil and a secondary coil, a spark plug to which a high voltage from the secondary coil is impressed, and a coil driver for driving the ignition coil. The coil driver has a switching element for controlling the primary current, an IC for driving the switching element, and a turn-on voltage prevention circuit inserted between a secondary coil low-voltage side terminal and ground. The turn-on voltage prevention circuit is composed of a parallel circuit comprising a diode in the form of a bare chip and a thick film resistor, and is mounted on the same substrate together with the IC.

Ignition apparatus for an internet combustion engine

The ignition apparatus includes an electronic control unit and an igniter. The igniter detects ions resulting from ignition, and sends an ion current output signal to the electronic control unit. The igniter has a waveform shaping circuit and an ion current detecting/outputting circuit. The waveform shaping circuit is adapted such that a voltage at an input terminal thereof becomes higher than a predetermined reference voltage to turn the switching element ON when the ignition signal is caused to flow through an electric load. The ion current detecting/outputting circuit has an output terminal which is connected to the input terminal and outputs therefrom an ion current output signal obtained as a result of conversion of an ion current, and is adjusted such that the voltage at the input terminal at the time when the ion current output signal is outputted to the electronic control unit becomes lower than the reference voltage.

Ignition apparatus for an internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine ignition apparatus includes a switching circuit having no power supply terminal connected to a power supply such as a battery is constructed, and including an output terminal connected to an ignition coil, an input terminal for receiving an ignition signal voltage and a reference potential terminal connected to a reference potential. In the switching circuit, the terminal structure is simplified, and energization timing and ignition timing can be set more accurately. A current supply circuit is connected between the input terminal and the reference potential terminal, and a current is supplied from the current supply circuit to a drive resistor of the switching element. In this current supply circuit, an energization timing when supply of the driving current is started is controlled by a waveform shaping circuit operating by the ignition signal voltage, and an ignition timing when the driving current is interrupted is controlled.
