With a recording apparatus for performing recording onto a continuous sheet to be conveyed, for starting conveyance of the continuous sheet, control is started so that with a first conveyance roller for conveying the continuous sheet on the upstream side of a recording portion in a conveyance path of a continuous sheet being stopped, the speed of a second conveyance roller for conveying the continuous sheet on the downstream side of the recording portion in the conveyance path becomes a first speed, and control is changed so that the speed of the second conveyance roller becomes a second speed faster than the first speed, and moreover control of the first conveyance roller is started so that the speed of the first conveyance roller may become a third speed faster than the first speed and slower than the second speed.

An inkjet printing apparatus includes a printing unit to print on a printing medium and a drying unit to dry the printing medium. The drying unit includes an air blower having an entry and an exit, a heater to heat air from the blower exit, a casing, first and second collection paths, and an exhaust amount regulator as a regulation value disposed in each of the first and second collection paths. The casing includes a first portion to communicate with the heater, and includes a second portion to communicate with the first portion and to pass the printing medium through the second portion. The exhaust amount regulator switches between a first regulation state in which air circulates through the first portion and the first collection path and a second regulation state in which air circulates through the second portion and the second collection path.

An inkjet printing apparatus includes a transfer member, a printhead, a heating unit, and a transfer unit. A cooling unit, provided upstream of the printhead with respect to a rotation direction of the transfer member, cools down the transfer member, and a first measurement unit, provided around the transfer member, between the printhead and the cooling unit, measures a temperature of the transfer member. In addition, a second measurement unit, provided around the transfer member, between the heating unit and the transfer unit, measures a temperature of the transfer member. A control unit controls the cooling unit based on the temperature measured by the first measurement unit, and controls the heating unit based on the temperature measured by the second measurement unit.

Inkjet printing apparatus and related temperature control method that control cooling and heating of a transfer member

A printing apparatus includes a transfer member that rotates, a printhead that forms an image on the transfer member, and a transfer unit that transfers the image to a print medium. An application unit, provided at a downstream side of an area, at which the transfer unit transfers the image to the print medium, in a rotation direction of the transfer member, applies a cleaning liquid to a region on the transfer member after the image is transferred to the print medium. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an inkjet printing apparatus capable of controlling temperatures of a transfer member and a printhead properly, and printing a high-quality image is provided. Inkjet printing apparatus and temperature control method thereof

When fixing is not necessary in a printing apparatus including a fixing unit, a sheet to be conveyed is allowed to avoid the fixing unit. Specifically, a fixing unit-bypass path is provided on a conveying path corresponding to the fixing unit. Further, when a surface treatment material is not applied to a sheet from a surface treatment material applying head, that is, when fixing processing is not performed by the fixing unit, a sheet is conveyed along a fixing unit-bypass path. Since a sheet is conveyed along an bypass path when fixing processing is not performed as described above, it is possible to prevent a sheet from being affected by heat or the like while the sheet passes through the fixing unit.
