A maintenance liquid is used to maintain an ink jet head of a printing apparatus configured to eject an ink for printing from the ink jet head. The maintenance liquid is aqueous and subject to detection by a conductivity-based sensor. The maintenance liquid includes at least one selected from the group consisting of inorganic alkalis and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid compounds and at least one selected from the group consisting of organic acids and organic alkalis. The maintenance liquid has an electrical conductivity of 100 μS/cm or more and a pH of 6.0 to 11.

Maintenance liquid and maintenance method

A recording method includes a supply step of supplying an ink composition from an ink chamber to an ink jet head and an adhesion step of discharging the ink composition from the ink jet head and allowing the composition to adhere to a recording medium. The ink chamber receives supply of the ink composition from the ink container and has a capacity of 40 mL or more. The ink composition is an aqueous ink composition containing a pigment and an inorganic oxide particle having a specific gravity equal to or higher than that of the pigment.

Ink jet ink set, ink jet recording method, and ink jet recording apparatus

A recording method comprises a discharging step of discharging a first ink and a second ink from a line head having a length equal to or longer than a recording width of a recording medium and allowing the inks to adhere to the recording medium, wherein the line head includes a plurality of unit heads aligned in the recording width direction of the recording medium and includes portions having different inter-nozzle distances in the scanning direction of a first nozzle that discharges the first ink and a second nozzle that discharges the second ink, and the first ink and the second ink contain color materials and inorganic oxide particles, and the color materials have compositions different from each other.

An ink set includes a process color ink set including a yellow ink, a magenta ink, a cyan ink, and a black ink as process color inks, and a light ink having a color similar to a corresponding one of the process color inks in the process color ink set. Aqueous ink jet ink composition and ink jet recording method

An ink set according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a first ink and a second ink, the ink set described above is used for an ink jet recording apparatus which includes a recording head having at least one first ejection port which ejects the first ink and at least one second ejection port which ejects the second ink; and a cap which collectively caps the first ejection port and the second ejection port, the first ink contains water and a self-dispersible pigment, and the second ink contains water, a water-soluble dye, and a pigment dispersant.

An ink jet recording method includes ejecting an ultraviolet-ray curable ink of which a viscosity at 28&#xb0; C. is 8 mPa&#xb7;s or more from a head to a recording medium, and curing the ultraviolet-ray curable ink attached to the recording medium, wherein, in the ejecting of the ultraviolet-ray curable ink, the ultraviolet-ray curable ink is heated such that a temperature of the ejected ultraviolet-ray curable ink becomes 28&#xb0; C. to 40&#xb0; C., and a viscosity of the ultraviolet-ray curable ink at the temperature is 15 mPa&#xb7;s or less.
