Decoding of image data from a bit stream of encoded image data is performed. The image data was encoded in a selected domain by a transform function. A set of coefficients is extracted from the bit stream, wherein the set of coefficients represent a block of the image data. Each coefficient is compared to a theoretical model of a distribution of the coefficient data representative of the transform function. A decoding error is indicated when a coefficient does not lie within the theoretical model.

Error detection on variable length code decoder

A data stream that contains periodic time reference values referenced to a first reference clock is received for transcoding. The received data stream is processed to form an output data stream that contains the periodic time reference values. At least one of the periodic time reference values is adjusted by adding a count value to the at least one periodic reference value to form an adjusted periodic time reference value. The output data stream is transmitted with the adjusted periodic time reference value.

Automatic program clock reference correction

A block encode circuit () including a scanner () operable to scan a block having data values spaced apart in the block by run-lengths to produce a succession of pairs of values of Level and Run representing each data value and run-length, and wherein the Level values include one or more AC values succeeded by a DC value in the succession, and a Run-Level encoder () responsive to said scanner () to encode the values of Level and Run in a same AC to DC order as in the succession of pairs of values from said scanner () to deliver an encoded output. Block scanner and run-level encoder from AC to DC values

This invention is a digital television receiver receiving alternative broadcasts. Separate tuners receive separate broadcast signals, such as 12-segment HDTV and 1-segment QVGA. A multiplexer selects one tuner based upon receiver status of a first tuner. The selected signal is decoded and resized for a display. The decoder uses a frame buffer of images in the resized size. In the preferred embodiment the input signals are a 12-segment HDTV broadcast and a 1-segment QVGA broadcast and the resized size is VGA.

Video decoder system for movable application

A storage device performs error correction for all data read from media. Correctly read data or data that is corrected following the reading is transferred to a host for use. If the error correction fails, the storage device transfers a unique error code. The host distinguishes the received data between normal one and unique one. The normal data flows into main data handling routine and the unique code flows into error data handling routine. The processed results of both data are stored into system memory area in the host. The host controls the read out schedule and response to the unique code. This method can prevent the host breakdown from data trouble in the external storage device.

Error handling of storage device data in real time systems

This invention is used in a real time system that includes a host processor, interface hardware and an external device controlled by the interface hardware. To maintain system real-time performance, handshake protocol between the external device and the interface hardware is automatic during command execution. This invention moves control of the external device to the host processor if a command doesn't finish before a host processor specified time limit. If command execution exceeds the time limit, the host processor controls the handshake protocols directly and sequentially. This prevents system breakdown caused by trouble at the external device.
