An endoscope includes: an endoscope operation unit; an insertion observation unit that extends forward from the endoscope operation unit in a longitudinal direction; and a protective cap that covers the insertion observation unit and is detachably attached to the endoscope operation unit. The protective cap includes a color index portion that adjusts white balance. The color index portion is disposed inside the protective cap at a position facing a tip of the insertion observation unit, and the color index portion includes a curved surface in a sectional view in the longitudinal direction of the insertion observation unit.

An endoscope includes an endoscope operation unit; an insertion observation unit extending forward from the endoscope operation unit in a longitudinal direction of the endoscope; a coupling portion between the endoscope operation unit and the insertion observation unit; and an elastic body that covers at least a coupling portion.

An endoscope includes an insertion observation portion including a distal end portion to be inserted into a target object; an objective lens portion disposed on the distal end portion of the insertion observation portion and includes a lens; a holding member that holds the objective lens portion; a sheath that covers the objective lens portion and the holding member; and a sealing material that is disposed on an outer circumference of the objective lens portion and that shields light. A part of the sealing material is disposed on an inner side of a recessed portion of the lens and forms a diaphragm portion that widens a depth of field of the endoscope.

An imaging module of the invention includes: an electrical cable; a solid-state image sensing device; and a flexible wiring substrate including: a device-mounted portion onto which the solid-state image sensing device is mounted; two extended portions which bend at both sides of the device-mounted portion and extend from the device-mounted portion so as to come close to each other with increasing distance from the device-mounted portion; two connection end portions extending from the two extended portions along the direction of the axis of the front end of the electrical cable on an opposite side of the device-mounted portion; and terminals which are provided on the two connection end portions and connected to the electrical cable, the flexible wiring substrate electrically connecting the solid-state image sensing device and the electrical cable.
