A battery frame is fixed to a chassis and a battery pack is assembled to the battery frame. The battery frame includes a pair of crossbars and a pair of side bars. The crossbars extend in the vehicle width direction while being spaced apart in the vehicle front-rear direction, and have both ends in the vehicle width direction fixed to the side members. The side bars extend in the vehicle front-rear direction while being spaced apart in the vehicle width direction, and have front ends and rear ends detachably fixed to the crossbars.

A vehicle is equipped with an internal combustion engine having a forced-induction apparatus with variable boost pressure, a first motor generator for generating electricity while applying negative torque to the engine, and a battery for storing the electricity generated by the first motor generator. During the operation of the engine, a target boost pressure is set lower as the rotational speed of the first motor generator is increased. The engine is controlled such that, with the boost pressure adjusted to the target boost pressure, the output torque of the engine has a required value determined by the accelerator operation amount. Further, while the output torque of the engine is adjusted to the required value, the magnitude of the negative torque by the first motor generator acting on the engine is adjusted such that the engine rotational speed has a target value.

It is provided a vehicle control device stopping an engine in operation when an automatic stop request is made and restarting the stopping engine when a restart request is made, wherein when the restart request is made while the engine is in transition to a rotation stop state in association with the automatic stop request, the engine is restarted if a crank position of the engine corresponds to a stroke other than a compression stroke while the engine is continuously stopped if the crank position of the engine corresponds to the compression stroke.

Vehicle control device

A vehicle includes a power storage device, a motor generator, a converter for stepping up an output voltage from the power storage device, an inverter for driving the motor generator, and an ECU. The inverter includes switching elements. The switching elements have a characteristic that the withstand voltage of the switching elements decreases as the temperature of the inverter decreases. The ECU sets the stepped-up voltage, based on a temperature characteristic of the power storage device and a temperature characteristic of the inverter, so that the stepped-up voltage is increased within a range in which the stepped-up voltage does not exceed the withstand voltage. In this way, at low temperatures, deterioration of the power performance can be suppressed while the switching elements are protected.

When an actual output power level of an engine is greater than a preset engine power demand due to the higher density of intake air in a cold environment, the control procedure of the invention controls a motor to raise a rotation speed of the engine with a throttle opening TH kept at a current level, so as to make the actual output power level of the engine substantially equal to the engine power demand (this is attained by, for example, a change of a target drive point from a point A to a point B). This arrangement effectively restrains a battery from being charged with an unexpectedly large electric power and prevents frequent changeover between the stop and the start of the engine with a significant variation in current state of charge (SOC) of the battery.

Power output apparatus and control method of the same

A valve opening/closing timing control apparatus and method can be used with a camshaft whose rotation is synchronized with opening/closing timing of an intake valve or an exhaust valve in an internal combustion engine; a relative rotation angle adjustment mechanism which transmits torque of a crankshaft in the internal combustion engine to the camshaft and which adjusts a relative rotation angle between the crankshaft and the camshaft; and a lock mechanism which depends on hydraulic fluid, and which mechanically locks or unlocks the relative rotation angle that is adjusted by the relative rotation angle adjustment mechanism. The apparatus and method determine the duration of a time period from a start of the internal combustion engine until a start of relative rotation angle adjustment, based upon an unlocking force of the hydraulic fluid that is applied to the lock mechanism when the lock mechanism is locked and the internal combustion engine is started.

Valve opening/closing timing control apparatus and method

An engine performs a combustion mode selected from a plurality of combustion modes. The combustion modes include stratified-charge combustion and homogeneous-charge combustion. A electronic control unit switches the combustion mode in accordance with the current running conditions of the engine. The electronic control unit limits a running area in which stratified-charge combustion is performed in accordance with the frequency of engine knocking occurrences. This properly executes knocking control without adversely affecting the execution of is stratified-charge combustion.

Engine combustion control apparatus and method

In a high-pressure pump for an internal combustion engine, a spill valve is inhibited from being stopped frequently. If the fuel injection amount becomes smaller than a predetermined amount, a method of determination is changed so that a feedforward term for duty control increases. This makes it unlikely that the duty ratio will become equal to zero. Operation resulting from a closing motion of the spill valve occurs substantially regularly. As a result, the circumstance where operation noise is generated irregularly is avoided, and a sense of incongruity given to the driver is reduced.
