A saddle-ride-type vehicle where the degree of freedom in layout of parts is increased by making use of a space formed below a rider's seat. The saddle-ride-type vehicle includes a main frame extending rearwardly in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle and downwardly from a head pipe. A seat frame extends rearwardly in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle from the main frame with a rider's seat supported on the seat frame from below. The seat frame is disposed in a frontward inclined manner toward the main frame wherein the seat frame becomes away from a seat bottom surface of the rider's seat thus forming a space below the seat bottom surface with a seat support member being disposed in the space.

Saddle-ride-type vehicle

An air cleaner is disposed at the front part of an intake space below a seat. A battery box containing a battery is disposed on the rear side relative to the air cleaner in the intake space. The battery box is disposed with a rearward tilt and on the intake upstream side of the air cleaner and a corner part of the battery box at the lower front end thereof is disposed close to the air cleaner with the intermediary of a slight gap. The battery in the battery box is located in a flow of intake air sucked into the air cleaner and is efficiently cooled. The battery box includes an opening wherein part of the outer surface of the battery and a degassing part face the opening. An anti-diffusion cover part, continuous with an edge of the opening, covers the degassing part.

Motorcycle

A fuel pump of a straddle type vehicle is provided to be arranged suitably within a fuel tank. The fuel tank of the straddle type vehicle includes a vertically split upper tank and lower tank that have flanges joined by welding. The flanges are arranged to extend along an upper part of left and right main frames, which are inclined so as to extend in a forward and rearward direction. A fuel pump is arranged in an interior of the fuel tank through an opening provided in the lower tank. A pump flange section is provided in the fuel pump so as to close the opening. The lower tank is provided with a substantially horizontal flat portion. The flat portion has the opening, which is located on the lower side in an inclined direction of the main frames.

Fuel tank for straddle type vehicle

Lateral sides of an engine and a fuel tank are covered with a tank cowling formed by connecting a front cowling and a rear cowling. The front cowling is provided with a flange in which a through hole is formed. The long sides of the through hole are formed in parallel with a cylinder axis of a cylinder section. A gate provided on a lower connecting edge portion of the rear cowling with which the flange overlaps is inserted into the through hole and connected by the clip. The front cowling and the rear cowling are fastened through a bolt on a vehicle body side above and below the connecting section by the clip. With this structure, the force applied to the connecting section is reduced and the connecting section is decreased in size.

Connecting structure of vehicle component parts

A straddle-type vehicle capable of restricting input of a load from a fastening member, which joins multiple tank covers to each other, to the surface of a fuel tank. A fastening member designed to join a first tank cover and a second tank cover together is disposed to face the surface of a fuel tank and at least one of the first tank cover. The second tank cover has a convex portion facing the surface of the fuel tank at a position near the fastening member.

Straddle-type vehicle

A vehicle body frame of a saddle-ride-type vehicle which enables a high-strength joint and a reduction in the weight of the vehicle body frame. The vehicle body frame of a saddle-ride-type vehicle includes a plurality of rear frames arranged to face each other in an opposed manner and a cross frame for connecting the plurality of rear frames to each other. A through hole is formed in the rear frames arranged to face each other in an opposed manner with the cross frame being joined to the rear frames at insertion portions thereof inserted into the through holes.

Vehicle body frame of saddle-ride-type vehicle

A clip couples a first member with a first through-hole, and a second member with a second through-hole. The clip includes a flexible cylindrical portion having a predetermined center axis line, opening two ends, and formed so that a distance from the center axis line to an outside surface is different in a rotational direction around the center axis line. The center axis line is orthogonal to an axis line of the coupling hole, and the cylindrical portion is inserted into a coupling hole rotatably between a first rotational position and a second rotational position around the center axis line. The cylindrical portion is set to have a distance between the center axis line and the outside surface to be loosely fitted in the coupling hole at the first rotational position and to be clamped between hole walls of the coupling hole at the second rotational position.

Clip

A vehicle body frame for a saddle-ride type vehicle is manufactured by laser welding, and has good dimensional accuracy in a vehicle length direction. A pivot frame includes a grooved member, a lid member put on an opening of the grooved member, and laser-weld beads with which this lid member is joined to the grooved member. The molten metal shrinks during its solidification, and shrinkage occurs in the vehicle width direction. However, no shrinkage occurs in the vehicle longitudinal direction. As a result, the distance between a head pipe and a pivot shaft is maintained properly.

Vehicle body frame for a saddle-ride type vehicle, and motorcycle including same

To provide a vehicle body frame for a motorcycle which includes a head pipe having good dimensional accuracy. A head pipe includes a left half which is obtained by die forming, a right half which is obtained by die forming, and beads with which the right half is integrated with the left half by laser welding. The head pipe is formed by joining the left half and the right half to each other with the first and second beads which are laser weld beads. Laser weld beads are significantly smaller in bead width than arc weld beads, and therefore their shrinkage after their solidification is significantly smaller. As a result, a head pipe having good dimensional accuracy is obtained.

Vehicle body frame for a saddle-ride vehicle, and motorcycle including same

A vehicle body frame manufactured by welding is configured for weight reduction, and includes first and second frame members. The first frame member has a predetermined thickness including a first flat surface portion wider than the predetermined thickness. The second frame member includes a second flat surface portion touching the first flat surface portion. The first and second frame members are joined by bringing the flat surface portions together and welding the first and second flat surface portions together with laser beams parallel to the first flat surface portion. In this way, the laser welding can be performed with a reduced gap between the two members. Welding using laser beams applied from directions parallel to the flat surfaces allows the weld area to be significantly larger than conventional fillet welding.

A fuel tank and pump assembly is provided for supporting a fuel pump on a fuel tank, with a pump support member provided on a tank outer wall of the fuel tank. The fuel pump includes a pumping portion which is inserted into the fuel tank through a pump attachment opening formed a main tank body of the fuel tank. The pump support member includes a plurality of arcuate support plate elements arranged around the pump attachment opening. The fuel pump is secured to fastening sections provided on the support plate elements, and is attached to a main tank body at the pump attachment opening in a sealed, liquid tight manner.

Fuel tank and pump assembly, and motorcycle including same

A clip includes a clip body, displacement portions, engagement portions and curved protruding portions. The clip body can be accommodated between a first through-hole of a protruding portion of a first object to be fixed and a second object to be fixed. The displacement portions are provided on both end portions of the clip body along a virtual line. The engagement portions are provided at leading end side of the displacement portions so as to engage with the protruding portion when the clip body is pulled out from the first through-hole. The curved protruding portions provided at both end portions of the clip body and each are engaged with a curved corner portion formed in the second object to be fixed when the clip body is pulled out from the first through-hole.

In a cowling fastening structure () for fastening a first cowling member () and a second cowling member () to each other by using a clip (), the two cowling members are provided with opposing walls () having a mutually aligned through holes () formed therein, the clip is provided with a first member () and a second member () joined by a hinge (). A free end of the first member formed with an engagement hole () is passed through the through holes, and a free end of the second member formed with an engagement claw () is passed around the opposing walls so as to engage the engagement claw with the engagement hole.

Cowling fastening structure

A mudguard structure for a straddle-ride vehicle suppresses the enlargement of an attachment portion of a mud shield plate and makes satisfactory the external appearance of the circumference of a rear fender. A mudguard has left and right erecting walls erecting to the rear from respective left and right outer edges thereof and a front-lower concave portion integrally continuing into a lower portion of a rear wheel runout concave portion of a rear fender. A box-like attachment portion for attachment to the rear fender is located at each of both, left and right, sides of the upper end portion of the mudguard.

Mudguard structure for straddle-ride type vehicle

A saddle-ride vehicle includes a radiator body having a first radiator and a second radiator each including a core composed of radiating fins and tubes, alternately laminated. The radiator body is disposed forward of an engine while sandwiching a down tube between the first and second radiators in a vehicle left-right direction with the down tube extending rearwardly and downwardly of a head pipe. The radiator bodies and an exhaust pipe connected to the engine are disposed in an overlapping manner when the vehicle is viewed in a plan view. The lower tank of the first radiator include an inlet for the coolant from a lower communicating radiator hose that allows coolant to flow from the lower tank of the second radiator and an outlet for the coolant to a lower end radiator hose that is connected from the lower tank of the first radiator to the engine.
