The present invention provides a highly efficient fuel cell power supply unit, which is constructed by directly connecting a fuel cell with a capacitor. In this power supply unit, a control device of the unit calculates the output voltage Vof the fuel cell after the variation of electrical load based on the synthetic current-voltage characteristics of the fuel cell and the capacitor and the predetermined width of the variation of electrical load &#x394;I, calculates the corresponding current Ifc', and then calculates the equilibrium reacting gas supply amount Qa, and supplies an excess amount of the reacting gas exceeding Qabefore the variation of electrical load.

Fuel cell power supply device

In the fuel cell (FC) system comprising a FC and a rechargeable battery, a demand power of the FC is calculated by subtracting the charge power to the battery from a demand power signal which indicates the demand value of a load current and using the result. Accordingly, the charge current is never supplied to the battery which is charged to the maximum ratio, which prevents the utilization ratio of the fuel cell from decreasing and which prevents the battery from overcharge. On the other hand, the battery which is discharged to the minimum ratio does not output the discharge power but the charge power is supplied to the battery. Accordingly, it prevents the battery from over discharge.

Then, the throttle opening is controlled to achieve the desired power generation amount, thereby optimizing fuel consumption, while rapidly converging the engine speed on the desired value, without stalling the internal combustion engine.

Output control system for series hybrid vehicle

A system for discriminating engine-starting of a hybrid vehicle having an internal combustion engine and a generator-motor connected to the engine to rotate the engine to start and to be rotated to generate electric power after the engine is started. In the system, elapse of time is measured after the current command value supplied to the generator-motor becomes less than a reference value, and it is determined whether the detected engine speed is greater or equal to a combustion-completion discriminating speed after the measured time has reached a predetermined value. Then, it is determined whether the detected engine speed is determined to be greater or equal to the combustion-completion engine speed, and if it is, it is discriminated that the engine is definitely started. With the arrangement, the engine starting is discriminated in a relatively short time with highly accuracy.

Engine-starting discrimination system for hybrid vehicle

A control system for a plant includes a sensor for detecting an output from the plant, an adaptive controller for controlling a manipulated variable applied to control of the plant in such a manner that an output from the sensor becomes equal to a desired value, and an adaptive parameter-adjusting device for adjusting adaptive parameters used by the adaptive controller. The adaptive parameter-adjusting device has an identification error-calculating device for calculating an identification error of the adaptive parameters and generating an identification error signal indicative of the calculated identification error, and an adjusting device for adjusting the adaptive parameters based on the calculated identification error. The adaptive parameter-adjusting device includes a non-linear filter for generating an output of 0 or approximately 0 in response to the identification error signal when the identification error is within a predetermined range. The adjusting device adjusts the adaptive parameters by using the output from the non-linear filter.

Control system for plants

An adaptive controller using an adjustment law expressed in recurrence formula, including a plant, a controller which controls an input to the plant, and a parameter adjuster which adjusts a parameter of the controller. The adaptive controller uses the smoothed data as values of the adaptive parameters.

A cylinder-by-cylinder air-fuel ratio-estimating system for an internal combustion engine includes an air-fuel ratio sensor arranged in the exhaust system of the engine, at a confluent portion of the exhaust system.
