A method of producing a polymer composition is provided, including: kneading (A) a conjugated diene-based polymer that is a polymer of a conjugated diene compound or a copolymer of a conjugated diene compound and an aromatic vinyl compound, and is a reaction product between an active polymerization end and a compound represented by any one of the general formulae (1) to (3), and (B) a basic compound having an acid dissociation constant of 8.0 or more; and kneading a kneaded product from (A) and a crosslinking agent.

A polymer composition including: a filler (A); a polymer (B) having a repeating unit derived from a conjugated diene compound, having a peak temperature of a tan &#x3b4; temperature dispersion curve of &#x2212;110&#xb0; C. or more and less than &#x2212;30&#xb0; C., and having a functional group capable of interacting with the filler (A); and a polymer (C) having a repeating unit derived from a conjugated diene compound and a repeating unit derived from an aromatic vinyl compound, having a peak temperature of a tan &#x3b4; temperature dispersion curve of &#x2212;30&#xb0; C. or more and 10&#xb0; C. or less, and having a functional group capable of interacting with the filler (A), wherein the polymer (B) and the polymer (C) are incompatible with each other, and a concentration of functional groups per unit mass of the polymer (B) is higher than a concentration of functional groups per unit mass of the polymer (C).

The modified conjugated diene-based polymer is produced by a method of reacting a conjugated diene-based polymer having an active chain end, obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing a conjugated diene compound in the presence of an initiator that contains at least either of an alkali metal compound and an alkaline earth metal compound, with a compound [M] having at least two groups selected from the group consisting of a group '&#x2014;C(R)&#x2550;N-A' and a group '&#x2014;N&#x2550;C(R)-A', where Ris a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl group and Ais a monovalent group having an alkoxysilyl group.

Provided is a laser scanning microscope including a stage on which a sample is placed, an objective lens that is disposed below the stage and that focuses laser light from a light source onto the sample, a scanner that scans the laser light focused by the objective lens over the sample, a condenser lens disposed opposite the objective lens with the stage interposed therebetween, and a light blocking cover that is disposed in an optical path between the condenser lens and the stage and that blocks external light entering the objective lens or the condenser lens from above the sample via the stage.

A microscope focusing mechanism includes a fixing part attached to a microscope main body, a fixing-side guide member attached to the fixing part, a plate-shaped base part that supports at least one of a stage for placing a specimen and a revolver to which multiple objective lenses are detachably attached, a moving-side guide member that is fixed to the base part, that is connected to the fixing-side guide member, and that is movable in a direction of an optical axis of one of the objective lenses, and a plate member that is arranged on a side of the base part opposite to a side where the moving-side guide member is arranged. A linear expansion coefficient of a material of each of the moving-side guide member and the plate member differs from a linear expansion coefficient of a material of the base part.

An inverted microscope system includes an objective lens holding unit that holds an objective lens configured to collect at least observation light from a specimen, a tube lens configured to form an image using the observation light collected by the objective lens, a total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy optical system provided between the objective lens and the tube lens and configured to observe the observation light from the specimen using a total reflection illumination, and a disk scanning confocal optical system including a rotary disk on which a confocal opening is formed, the confocal opening being placed at a position substantially conjugate to a focus position of the objective lens. A relative distance between the focus position of the objective lens and the substantially conjugate position is changeable along an optical path of the observation light.

A disk unit for a confocal microscope has a rotary disk having many confocal openings, a rotary drive portion, which rotates the rotary disk, a holding member, which holds the rotary disk and the rotary drive portion, a drive portion, which is allowed to insert into and remove from an optical axis the rotary disk, and a disk replacement mechanism, which allows the rotary disk to be attached to and detached from the rotary drive portion.
