A disc device includes a casing, a disc processor, a drive motor, a transfer unit and a disc clamper. The transfer unit transfers an optical disc while holding the optical disc by driving the drive motor. The disc clamper switches a drive transmission of the drive unit in accordance with a holding condition of the optical disc with different diameters by the transfer unit to pivotally move the disc processor. The drive of the single drive motor effects both the transfer of the optical disc and the pivotal movement of the disc processor. A timing for transferring the optical disc and a timing for pivotally moving the disc processor can be suitably adjusted in accordance with the diameter of the optical disc.

Disk device

On the inner surface of a guide rail () having a concave groove, which extends in the vertical direction along a motion path of a disc drive () moved by a mover unit (), a biasing cam () having thickened swelling parts () at both ends is so provided as to have the groove width narrowed at both the upper and lower ends. A plate spring () which is pressed into contact with a guide surface of the surface of the biasing cam () by elastic biasing force is attached integrally to the disc drive (). At the home position where the disc drive () operates and at the position where the disc drive () is lifted up, the plate spring () is strongly pressed into contact by the swelling parts (), and the disc drive () can be prevented from being moved by impact or the like from outside during operation. While moving, the pressing force is weakened so that load applied by the mover unit () can be reduced.

Movement adjusting device, method thereof, and carrier device

An optical-pickup feeding apparatus includes a pickup base on which an optical pickup is mounted, which includes a sliding bearing with a lubricant agent; and a lead screw that is slidably fitted into the sliding bearing. A peripheral surface of a screw thread of the lead screw is formed in a shape of a circular arc.

A disk player which can insert and extract a disk, while a disk is being played, into and out of a compact body. Disc player

A skew adjusting apparatus for an optical disc player makes a positional adjustment of a guide member of a carriage for a pickup relative to a chassis. A movable body is disposed on the chassis. The movable body has at one end thereof a supporting member for the guide member and the other end thereof a connection member to the chassis. An adjusting device for making a positional adjustment of the guide member through the supporting member in the thickness direction of the chassis is disposed between the chassis and the movable body so as to be displaced from the guide member and the supporting member on a reference plane of the chassis.

Skew adjusting apparatus for an optical disc player

A structure for supporting a rotating body has a cylindrical rotating member having a flange perpendicular to an axis and a cylindrical portion, and a fixed shaft for rotatably supporting the rotating member. The flange has a hole, and the shaft has at least one hook projecting from the hole for restricting an axial movement of the rotating member.

Structure for supporting a rotating member on a shaft

A disc cartridge includes an upper lid and a lower lid for housing an optical disc or a magneto-optical disc between them. The disc cartridge also includes amechanism for making a gap between the upper lid and the lower lid varable. The mechanism increases a clearance between the surface of the disc housed in the disc cartridge and the inner surface of the upper and lower lids when the disc cartridge is inserted in an information recording and reproducing device. The mechanism may also increase a clearance between the outer rim of the disc and the inner wall of the disc cartridge when the disc cartridge is inserted in an information recording and reproducing device.

Disc cartridge having variable gap

An optical disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus records and/or reproduces information on an information record surface of an optical disk loaded thereto. The optical pickup apparatus for the optical disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus is provided with: two types of optical pickups for at least two types of optical disks respectively; first and second guiding rails arranged substantially parallel to each other such that the information record surface of the loaded optical disk is disposed between the first and second guiding rails, for respectively guiding the optical pickups along the information record surface of the loaded optical disk in a radial direction of the loaded optical disk; first and second retracting rails respectively connected to the first and second guiding rails, for retracting thereonto the optical pickups from the first and second guiding rails through linkages with the first and second guiding rails respectively; a rotator frame for holding the first and second retracting rails; and a rotating mechanism for rotating the rotator frame around an axis parallel to the first and second retracting rails and for swapping the first and second retracting rails to each other.

Optical pickup apparatus

A compact disc (CD) has a first centering hole having a first radius and has annular projection rings on both sides of the CD. The center of the ring is coaxial with the center of the first centering hole. A radius of an outer periphery of each of the projection rings is smaller than a second radius of a second centering hole of a video disc.

Optical disc

A multi-disc storage player in which a plurality of discs can be stored and selected in the desired order for continuous programmable playing. In particular, the player includes a positioning device for relatively positioning a disc storage portion, which is capable of systematically storing a plurality of discs, and a disc playing device in the direction of arrangement of the discs; and a disc moving device for making a selected disc move between the disc storage portion and the playing device. The positioning device includes a movable member for carrying a selected one of the disc storage portion and the playing device, a driving mechanism for making the movable member move according to an instruction of movement, and a controlling device for issuing said instruction of movement to the driving mechanism until a designated position corresponding to a disc designated by an instruction of playing coincides with a current position of the movable member. The controlling device issues an instruction of movement to the driving mechanism to operate in a direction reverse to a first direction upon detecting the passage of a predetermined period of time before the designated position coincides with the current position, after issuance of an instruction of movement in the first direction to the driving mechanism. Thus, the state of engagement between a disc, which is not completely stored in the disc storage portion, and the movable member and parts mounted thereon is released.

The optical pickup apparatus for the optical disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus is provided with: a base having a pair of plate portions opposed to each other; two types of optical pickups; first and second guiding rails arranged substantially parallel to each other and disposed on the plate portions of the base respectively, for respectively guiding the optical pickups along the information record surface of the loaded optical disk in a radial direction of the loaded optical disk; first and second retracting rails respectively connected to the first and second guiding rails, for retracting thereonto the optical pickups from the first and second guiding rails through linkages with the first and second guiding rails respectively; a rotator frame for holding the first and second retracting rails; a swinger frame, for holding the rotator frame through a first spindle parallel to the first and second retracting rails, held by the base through a second spindle parallel to the first spindle; a swinging mechanism for swinging the swinger frame around the second spindle; and a rotating mechanism for rotating the rotator frame and for swapping the first and second retracting rails to each other after the swinging mechanism swings the swinger frame toward one direction.

A disk player includes a player housing. A turntable and a plurality of trays in which corresponding disks are detachably placed are disposed in the player housing. The trays are juxtaposed in such a manner that the surfaces of the trays are substantially in parallel with the disk bearing surface of the turntable. The disk player further includes a circular gear section for moving the plurality of trays to a playing position, a waiting position, and an ejecting position; and a drive section for rotating the circular gear section. Further, a circular cam mechanism is engaged with the circular gear so as to be turned thereby, the circular cam mechanism having cam section for moving a pickup section vertically in accordance with the position of the disk at the playing position.
