A loudspeaker diaphragm according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a diaphragm portion; and an edge portion, which is molded integrally with the diaphragm portion and made of a material different from a material for the diaphragm portion, wherein: the diaphragm portion includes, at an outer peripheral end thereof, an outer wall portion provided upright in a direction substantially parallel to a vibrating direction of the diaphragm portion; an inner peripheral surface of the edge portion is bonded onto an outer peripheral surface of the outer wall portion; and the outer wall portion has a height larger than a thickness of the diaphragm portion.

The loudspeaker diaphragm includes a base layer having a woven fabric of a polyethylene naphthalate fiber impregnated with a thermosetting resin, and optionally a thermoplastic resin layer and/or a thermoplastic elastomer layer. The polyethylene naphthalate fiber is preferably an untwisted fiber. A fiber/resin weight ratio in the base layer is preferably in the range of 60/40 to 80/20. The speaker diaphragm of the present invention includes a nonwoven fabric impregnated with at least a thermosetting resin composition, molded, and cured. The nonwoven fabric is formed of a fiber material containing protein fibers. The thermosetting resin composition contains an unsaturated polyester resin as a main component. The speaker diaphragm of the present invention has excellent acoustic characteristics and is produced with high production efficiency.

Such a speaker member is obtained by a method comprising the steps of: forming a base material; impregnating a portion of the base material with a thermosetting resin wherein the portion is to be a vibrating plate part; and curing said impregnated thermosetting resin so as to form the vibrating plate part, and simultaneously forming an edge part.
