A toner including toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant. The binder resin is a vinyl-based resin. The toner contains a THF insoluble matter in a quantity of 0.0 mass % or more to less than 16.0 mass %. The toner has a main peak in a molecular weight domain Drranging from 5,000 to 80,000 in measurement of THF soluble matter of the toner with a gel permeation chromatogram (GPC)-differential refractive index detector (RI), and the toner has a main peak in a molecular weight domain Dmranging from 10,000 to 120,000 and at least one peak in a molecular weight domain Dmranging from 300,000 to 7,000,000 in the GPC-RI measurement in measurement with a GPC-multi-angle laser light scattering detector (MALLS).

Toner

A non magnetic toner comprises toner particles each containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and a wax component. The toner further comprises an inorganic fine powder. A storage elastic modulus at 110&#xb0; C. (G') of the non magnetic toner is in a range of 2.00&#xd7;10to 2.00&#xd7;10dN/m. A storage elastic modulus at 150&#xb0; C. (G&#x2032;) of the non magnetic toner is in a range of 3.00&#xd7;10to 2.00&#xd7;10dN/m. The toner particles are obtained by dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition containing polymerizable monomers, the colorant, the wax component and a low-molecular weight polymer into an aqueous medium, granulating the dispersed polymerizable monomer composition, and polymerizing the polymerizable monomers in granulated particles. The low-molecular weight polymer has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured by means of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) in a range of 2000 to 5000.

Non-magnetic toner

In a chart of molecular weight distribution measured of a toner, i) the toner has a main peak in the region of molecular weight of 16,000 to 60,000, and ii) where the molecular weight at the main peak is represented by M1, and where the height at the molecular weight M1 is represented by H(M1), the height at a molecular weight of 4,000 by H(4000) and the height at a molecular weight of 15,000 by H(15000), the H(4000), the H(15000) and the H(M1) satisfy a specific proportion. The toner has a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 15,000 to 80,000, and, in an endothermic chart, i) the toner has an endothermic main peak in the range of 40 to 130&#xb0; C., and ii) the calorimetric integral value represented by the peak area of the endothermic main peak is 10 to 35 J per 1 g of the toner.

Toner, and toner production process

In a toner having toner particles which comprise toner base particles containing at least a colorant, a release agent and a polar resin, and an inorganic fine powder, the polar resin is a resin having at least a polyester unit, synthesized in the presence of an aromatic carboxylic acid titanium compound used as a catalyst, and has an acid value of from 3 mgKOH/g to 35 mgKOH/g. The toner base particles are obtained by carrying out granulation in an aqueous medium, and the toner has a weight-average particle diameter of from 4.0 &#x3bc;m to 10.0 &#x3bc;m.

A toner is provided which is excellent in low-temperature fixability and offset resistance, has a wide fixing temperature range, provides fixed images with high gloss, and can form toner images having high quality. The toner is composed of toner particles having toner base particles each containing a binder resin and a colorant. When the viscosities of each of the toner particles measured at 100&#xb0; C. and 110&#xb0; C. by a flow tester heat-up method are represented by &#x3b7;(Pa&#xb7;s) and &#x3b7;(Pa&#xb7;s), respectively, an average variation in viscosity Arepresented by the following equation (1) satisfies the relationship of 0&#x2267;A&#x2267;&#x2212;0.064:=(log(&#x3b7;)&#x2212;log(&#x3b7;)/(110&#x2212;100); and&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)

Toner and method of producing toner

A toner includes toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, and inorganic fine particles. The shape factor SF-1 of the toner particles is in a specific range. The toner has a storage elastic modulus at 140&#xb0; C., G' (140&#xb0; C.), in a specific range the toner comes to have a viscosity of 1.0&#xd7;10Pa&#xb7;s according to a flow tester heating method at a temperature of from 115&#xb0; C. or more to less than 130&#xb0; C.

Toner, and image forming method

A toner includes toner particles and an inorganic fine powder mixed with the toner particles. The toner particles contain a binder resin, a coloring agent, a releasing agent, and a sulfur-containing resin. The toner particles contain at least one element selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, barium, zinc, aluminum, and phosphorus and satisfy the relationship:4&#x2266;&#x2266;30wherein T represents the total content of the element in ppm, and S represents the content of sulfur in ppm. The weight-average particle diameter (D) of the toner is in the range of 3 to 10 &#x3bc;m. The average circularity of the toner is within the range of 0.950 to 0.995.

In a process for producing toner particles by dispersing in an aqueous medium a polymerizable monomer composition containing at least a polymerizable monomer and a colorant and carrying out polymerization by the use of a polymerization initiator, the concentration of alcohol having 4 to 6 carbon atoms in the aqueous medium is so adjusted as to be from 500 ppm to 2,000 ppm when the polymerization conversion of the polymerizable monomer composition is 30%, and to be from 2,300 ppm to 10,000 ppm when the polymerization conversion of the polymerizable monomer composition is 97%.

Process for producing toner particles, and toner

In a toner kit having i) a non-magnetic black toner having at least carbon black and ii) color toners, the black toner has a weight-average particle diameter represented by Dand a one-point method BET specific surface area represented by Sb, and the color toners, other than the-black toner, each have a weight-average particle diameter represented by D4and a one-point method BET specific surface area represented by Sc, where the black toner and color toners satisfy the following relations (1) and (2):0.60&#x2266;4.4&#x2266;0.96,:&#x2003;&#x2003;Relation (1)0.750&#x2266;&#x2266;1.000;:&#x2003;&#x2003;Relation (2)and each have an average circularity of from 0.950 to 1.000 and a circularity standard deviation of less than 0.040 as measured with a flow type particle image analyzer.

Toner kit and color-image-forming method

In a non-magnetic toner having non-magnetic toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, and an inorganic fine powder, the non-magnetic toner particles contain at least one ether compound having a specific structure, and the ether compound is in a content of from 5 ppm to 1,000 ppm.

To provide an method for forming an image capable of effectively suppressing a toner from deteriorating and also capable of keeping the quality of an image for a long period of time, even when the method is applied to an apparatus with as high process speed. The prevent invention provides an method for forming an image, in which a developing unit is used, which includes: a rotatable cylindrical toner bearing member having a diameter represented as Rd (mm); and a rotatable cylindrical toner-supplying member having a diameter Rs (mm), the diameters Rd and Rs satisfying the following relational expression ():1&#x2266;Rs&#x2212;Rd&#x2266;10&#x2003;&#x2003;(1) and in which the nonmagnetic one-component toner having an degree of aggregation of 5 to 30% and an electric resistivity of 1&#xd7;10to 1&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm at an electric field of 1&#xd7;10V/cm is used.

Method for forming an image

In a toner having toner particles containing at least a colorant, a release agent and a polar resin, and an inorganic fine powder, the polar resin contains a polyester resin obtained by carrying out polymerization in the presence of a titanium chelate compound as a catalyst, and has an acid value in a specific range. The toner particles are granulated in an aqueous medium and have a weight-average particle diameter in a specific range.

In a toner kit having i) a non-magnetic black toner having at least carbon black and ii) color toners, the black toner has a weight-average particle diameter represented by Dand a one-point method BET specific surface area represented by Sb, and the color toners, other than the black toner, each have a weight-average particle diameter represented by Dand a one-point method BET specific surface area represented by Sc, where the black toner and color toners satisfy the following relations (1) and (2):0.60&#x2266;&#x2266;0.96,&#x2003;&#x2003;Relation (1)0.750&#x2266;&#x2266;1.000;&#x2003;&#x2003;Relation (2)and each have an average circularity of from 0.950 to 1.000 and a circularity standard deviation of less than 0.040 as measured with a flow type particle image analyzer.

The present invention provides a silica fine particle capable of preventing a charging member or an image bearing member from being contaminated with toner when the toner contains the particle and also capable of providing the toner with a stable developing property. The silica fine particle of the present invention has been hydrophobic treated. Furthermore, the particle has a peak in a range of 0.04 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m and a peak in the range of 1 &#x3bc;m to 100 &#x3bc;m in a volume-basis particle diameter distribution. The particle has a frequency ratio of 10 to 80% for the particles with a particle diameter of 0.04 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m to a total of all the peaks, and the particles has the frequency ratio of less than 16% for the particles with a particle diameters of 20 &#x3bc;m to 2000 &#x3bc;m to the total of all the peaks.
