A method is disclosed for spatial resource selection from a plurality of spatial resources. The method comprises—for each spatial resource of the plurality of spatial resources—receiving a plurality of reference signal blocks using the spatial resource (wherein at least some of the reference signal blocks are received in different frequency intervals and during different time intervals), determining (for each received reference signal block) whether or not a signal quality metric of the received reference signal block meets a quality criterion, and determining whether the spatial resource is to be considered for spatial resource selection based on the quality criterion determinations of the received reference signal blocks. The spatial resources may be beams of a beam-forming application, or antennas of a multi-antenna arrangement, or multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) streams. The reference signal blocks may comprise one or more of uplink reference signals, sounding reference signals, demodulation reference signals, and phase tracking reference signals. Corresponding apparatus, network node and computer program product are also disclosed.

Methods and apparatuses for spatial resource selection

Methods, nodes and computer program products control radio channel deployment when using un-licensed carriers in a wireless communication network and control mobility and/or load balancing target selection when using un-licensed carriers. When performed in an access node, unlicensed carrier intrinsic cell channel load is determined in a cell served by the access node based on one or more predetermined channel load indicators and neighbor cell channel load information is obtained, from one or more neighboring access nodes. The neighbor cell channel load information includes unlicensed carrier channel load in respective cells based on the one or more predetermined channel load indicators. At least one channel deployment operation is initiated based on an outcome of one or more comparative operations including the determined unlicensed carrier intrinsic cell channel load and/or the obtained neighbor cell channel load information.

Mobility and load balancing target selection for unlicensed carriers

A method is arranged to be performed by a network node of a cellular communication system when operating according to a scheme where system information for enabling a wireless device to access a cell operated by the network node is broadcasted on an anchor channel. A method of a network node of a time division duplex (TDD) system is disclosed. The method comprises acquiring a maximum cell synchronization error, determining a number of symbols of a partial uplink subframe (PUSF) based on the maximum cell synchronization error, and transmitting an indication of a PUSF configuration to at least one PUSF capable wireless communication device, wherein the PUSF configuration indicates the determined number of symbols of the PUSF. The method also comprises sending an uplink grant signal to one or more of the at least one PUSF capable wireless communication devices, wherein the uplink grant is for a PUSF immediately preceding another subframe to be used for downlink transmission.
