A gas regulator is of a modular construction, having a base providing coupling to a gas supply system and a body in which the pressure regulation elements are located. The base and body form a plug and socket type connection, the body being removable from the base, for repair or replacement without the base being disconnected from the gas supply. Inlet and outlet ports in the base align with corresponding inlet and outlet chambers in the body to provide a gas flow path through the regulator with the base and body connected.

A pneumatic pump of the type having a pair of pump chambers each divided by a diaphragm assembly coupled by a main shaft includes a housing having a central valve chamber. An integral counter, mounted in the pump housing, is also coupled to the diaphragm shaft, and provides a count of the number of shaft reciprocations performed.

Counter for a plural-chamber pneumatic pump

A pneumatic pump of the type having a pair of pump chambers each divided by a diaphragm assembly coupled by a main shaft includes a housing having a central valve chamber. The valve chamber is provided with a pair of internal walls between which a valve body reciprocates. The valve body alternatively connects passageways from the pump chambers to the pump exterior, while pressurized gas supplied to the valve chamber simulataneously pressurizes the other pump chamber. The valve body is mechanically coupled to the diaphragm shaft, whereby the pump chambers are pressurized and evacuated on synchronism with diaphragm operation. The valve body is accessible through an aperture in the housing, allowing the body to be replaced without pump disassembly. An integral counter, mounted in the pump housing, is also coupled to the diaphragm shaft, and provides a count of the number of shaft reciprocations performed.

Plural chamber pneumatic pump having a motive fluid exhaust valve

A two-stage regulator includes first and second regulator units in series. The regulator units are mounted upon a unitary base which forms the lower portion of each regulator and includes the inlets and outlets for each regulator unit as well as a passageway between the units. Each of the regulator units is of the diaphragm and main spring type. The first regulator unit, which operates upon the input high-pressure flow, includes a valve assembly proximate the diaphragm. The second regulator unit, which decreases the pressure of the intermediate pressure flow to the final low-pressure outlet flow includes a stem mounted to the diaphragm which terminates at a valve assembly displaced from the diaphragm body. In a preferred embodiment, the surface area of the low-pressure regulator unit is approximately 25% greater than the surface area of the high-pressure unit. The pressure control system of the second regulator unit may also include a nozzle assembly to increase the velocity of the exiting gas and a aspirator tube which utilizes the high velocity gas to modulate the diaphragm. Such a construction can provide high accuracy and rapid response of the system.

Two-stage regulator

A gas regulator has a pressure control diaphragm biased by a spring. The force of the spring upon the diaphragm, and thus the operating pressure for the regulator, is controlled by a linear travel bushing bearing against the spring. The bushing is preferably threaded upon a shaft, the rotation of which allows travel of the bushing. The top end of the shaft is recessed within a bore in the regulator housing to deter tampering. The shaft may be locked in position by use of a recessed setscrew, while the access bore may be provided with a cover.
