To provide a protective layer transfer sheet that can produce a print having excellent abrasion resistance and an excellent glossiness. A protective layer transfer sheetincluding a transfer layerprovided on one surface of a substrate, wherein the transfer layerhas a single-layer structure composed only of a protective layeror a layered structure in which the protective layeris located nearest to a side of the substrate, and the protective layercontains a styrene resin and a particulate organofluorine compound.

A thermal transfer sheet includes a transfer layer on a substrate. The transfer layer has one or more layers. The critical shearing stress of the transfer layer is within the range of 0.9&#xd7;10N/m-2&#xd7;10N/m. The transfer layer has a release force of 7.5&#xd7;10N/cm or less, while the transfer layer is continuously transferred onto a transfer receiving article by use of a thermal printer under conditions including an applied energy of 0.127 mJ/dot and a conveying speed for the thermal transfer sheet of 84.6 mm/sec. The transfer layer transferred onto the transfer receiving article is released from the thermal transfer sheet at a release angle of 50&#xb0;.

Thermal transfer sheet

The present invention provides a thermal transfer sheet including at least a transfer layer and a substrate. The transfer layer includes at least a protective layer adapted to be peelable from the substrate, and the transfer layer has a peel force in a non-heated state of 1 N/m or more and a peel force in a heated state of 10 N/m or less. The thermal transfer sheet exhibits a high level of adhesion therebetween, even when used in a compact printer that causes the thermal transfer sheet to be heated by the heat of a thermal head. The transfer layer exhibits a high level of releasability when being transferred.

An image forming method and a combination of a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet are capable of forming images of high print quality. An image forming method wherein an image is formed by combining a thermal transfer sheet, which is obtained by forming a dye layer on one surface of a substrate and forming a back surface layer on the other surface of the substrate, and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet, which is obtained by forming a dye receiving layer on one surface of another substrate. The dye layer of the thermal transfer sheet contains a sublimable dye, a binder resin and one or both of (A) a polyether-modified silicone having a viscosity of not less than 1,000 mm/s at 25&#xb0; C. and (B) a polyester-modified polysiloxane. The dye receiving layer of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet is an aqueous dye receiving layer.

Image forming method and combination of thermal transfer sheet and thermal transfer image-receiving sheet

There is provided a thermal transfer sheet that includes a heat-resistant slipping layer and a colorant layer, the heat-resistant slipping layer and the colorant layer being formable in an in-line process, has excellent heat resistance, and can suppress tailing. The thermal transfer sheet includes a substrate, a colorant layer provided on one surface of the substrate, and a heat-resistant slipping layer provided on the surface of the substrate opposite to the colorant layer, wherein the heat-resistant slipping layer contains at least a binder resin containing an amino group-containing acrylic resin and an epoxysilane, and a slipping agent.

Provided is a thermal transfer sheet capable of forming an image having excellent glossiness, and having no printing wrinkle or having a lesser possibility of generating wrinkles. A thermal transfer sheet in which a dyestuff layer or a transcriptive protective layer is formed on one surface of a substrate and a back face layer is formed on another surface of the substrate, wherein the back face layer contains (A) a resin of which weight-average molecular weight (Mw) is more than 15,000; (B) a resin of which weight-average molecular weight (Mw) is not more than 15,000; and (C) a lubricant ingredient; and wherein the (B) resin is contained at an amount range of 3% by weight to 40% by weight on the basis of the total solid content weight of the back face layer.
