One or more devices send, over a network, an advertisement for presentation by a video client, where the advertisement includes a trigger for secondary advertising content that is presented, within a hotspot designated in the primary advertisement, as part of the primary advertisement. The one or more devices receive, via the network, a notification from the video client that a user has selected the trigger and determine, based on the notification, particular secondary advertising content to be presented to the user. The one or more devices send, over the network, instructions to the video client to retrieve the particular secondary advertising content for presentation to the user.

A system and method may include providing a media stream via a network, the media stream comprising one or more advertisement content segments, identifying aggregate information associated with a viewer, assigning the one or more advertisement content segments to one or more categories and a category score associated with the one or more categories, filtering the one or more advertisement content segments based at least in part on the one or more categories, the category score associated with the one or more categories and the aggregate information associated with the viewer, and outputting the filtered one or more advertisement content segments to the viewer.

A system includes a set-top box and a server for a subscription television service. The set-top box includes a processor to receive a video-on-demand (VOD) programming suggestion from a user and send, to the server, the VOD programming suggestion. The server includes a processor to receive the VOD programming suggestion, compile the VOD programming suggestion with other VOD programming suggestions from other set-top boxes, and send a notification to the set-top box that the VOD programming suggestion has been added to the list of available VOD programming for the subscription television service.

The method further includes assigning the set-top box to the cluster and directing a cluster-oriented presentation to a particular set-top box within the cluster.

A system biometrically authenticates a user that intends to use an entertainment device. A video client receives an advertising map over a subscription multimedia network, where the advertising map includes a schedule of default advertisements during a programming break and indications of available alternate advertisements. The video client provides, for display to a user, indicators for the schedule of default advertisements and receives user input to alter the schedule of default advertisements. The video client retrieves advertising content for the altered schedule and presents, on the display and during the programming break, the advertising content for the altered schedule.

Systems and methods may include providing, to a user device, first content corresponding to a first channel of a plurality of channels; receiving, from the user device or a device associated with the user device, selection of a second channel, of the plurality of channels, when advertising content is present in the first content; providing, to the user device and responsive to the selection, second content corresponding to the second channel; identifying a conclusion of the advertising content; and generating a notification indicative of the conclusion of the advertising content.

A method performed by one or more devices within a subscription television network that offers pay-per-view programming to viewers includes receiving criteria for triggering dynamic pricing discounts for a pay-per-view event and establishing, based on the received criteria, dynamic prices for the pay-per-view event. The method also includes offering, to the viewers over the subscription television network, the pay-per-view event at one of the established dynamic prices.
