An optical fiber cable assembly includes an optical fiber cable, an optical fiber connector and a strain relief member. The optical fiber connector has a housing supporting a plurality of optical fibers of the cable. The strain relief member has a flexible conduit, a first section and a second section spaced from the first section. The first section is connected to a rear end of the optical fiber connector and the second section is connected to a portion of the optical fiber cable.

Optical fiber cable assembly with improved strain relief

A removal clip is provided for disconnecting a fiber optic connector from an array of installed fiber optic connectors. The removal clip includes an engagement portion for engaging the connector and a force transmitting structure that allows digital removal force from a user to be applied at a distance from the connector. The engagement portion may be generally U-shaped and includes opposing latch arms configured to accommodate the body of a fiber optic connector. The latch arms permit the engagement portion to snap attach to the connector. The force transmitting structure may include a beam and a handle extending axially or radially from the gripping section. Also included is an assembly of a removal clip attached to a fiber optic connector.

Fiber optic connector removal clips

An optical fiber cable assembly includes an optical fiber cable, an optical fiber connector, and a strain relief member. The optical fiber connector has a housing with at least two ferrules supporting a plurality of optical fibers of the cable. Each ferrule has at least two ribbons of optical fibers therein. The strain relief member has a flexible corrugated conduit. A method is also disclosed.

Multi-ferrule optical fiber cable assembly

The connector system provides two identical hermaphroditic housings, which accomplish a reliable connection of standard optical fiber connectors without the use of an adaptor. The connector system includes a first housing mounted to a first printed wiring board and a second housing mounted to a second printed wiring board. Each housing supports an optical fiber connector therein. Each housing includes an inner member and an outer member. Springs are provided between the inner and outer members to provide biasing of the housings in the mating direction of the optical connectors.

Hermaphroditic fibre optical connector system

A fiber optic connector assembly includes an outer connector housing defining an optic axis. An inner optical fiber plug is mounted in the housing for limited axial movement therein and for rotational movement angularly of the axis. An indexing or locking mechanism is provided between the plug and the housing to hold the plug in selected rotational positions of adjustment angular of the optic axis. Axial movement of the plug within and relative to the housing is effective to disengage the lock or indexing mechanism and allow rotation of the plug. A retainer is selectively movable into engagement with the plug to prevent axial movement of the plug and, thereby, prevent disengagement of the lock or indexing mechanism, thereby fixing the rotational position of the adjustment of the plug.

Rotationally adjustable fiber optic connector

A fiber optic connector assembly includes a body for mating with a complementary connecting device. An alignment pin subassembly is mounted in the body. The subassembly includes a pair of alignment pins having distal ends for projecting from the body into a pair of appropriate alignment holes in the complementary connecting device. A pin holding plate engages proximal ends of the alignment pins to hold the pins with the plate in the subassembly for mounting in the body.

Alignment pin assembly for fiber optic connectors

A receptacle for receiving a fiber optic connector along an optic axis. The receptacle includes a housing having an open end for receiving the fiber optic connector inserted thereinto on the optic axis, along with an opening remote from the open end. A shutter member is fitted through the opening and is mounted for pivotal movement toward and away from the optic axis to close and open the open end of the housing.

Fiber optic connector receptacle

A connector assembly is mounted through an aperture in a panel, the aperture defining an axis. A first connecting device is mountable in the aperture in the panel. A second connecting device is insertable axially into the first connecting device. One of the connecting devices includes two portions relatively movable axially, with one portion being mateable with the other connecting device. A first latch is provided between the two portions of the one connecting device to prevent relative axial movement therebetween. A second latch is provided between the other connecting device and the one portion of the one connecting device when the other connecting device is mated therewith. A release is provided on the other connecting device for releasing the first latch between the two portions of the one connecting device to allow the mated other connecting device to float relative to the panel.

Floating panel mounted connector assembly

A fiber optic connector assembly is arranged for adjusting the rotational position of a terminated optical fiber about its axis relative to the axis of the connector assembly. A connector body has a central bore extending rearwardly from a front end of the body. An inner plug terminates the optical fiber and is positioned in the bore of the body. The plug is captured axially in the body but is rotatable relative to the body about the axis of the fiber. Complementary interengaging keys and keyways are provided between the plug and the body to define a plurality of positions of rotational adjustment of the plug about the axis of the fiber relative to the body. Tool engaging portions on the plug are accessible through the front open end of the body so that an adjusting tool can be inserted thereinto after the connector assembly is assembled to rotationally adjust the plug relative to the body.

Tunable fiber optic connector

An adapter assembly is provided for interconnecting a pair of opposing optical fiber connectors generally along an optical axis. A unitary adapter housing has an axial cavity extending in a direction between opposite ends thereof. One end of the housing has a first interconnection operatively associated with a first one of the air of opposing optical fiber connectors. A unitary insert is mounted in the axial cavity of the adapter housing and includes a second interconnection operatively associated with the second of the pair of opposing optical fiber connectors at the opposite end of the housing.

Adapted for interconnecting optical fiber connectors

An adapter assembly is provided for holding two individual fiber optic connectors in generally parallel side-by-side alignment. The assembly includes a one piece body having a pair of through passages adapted for holding the fiber optic connectors in a substantially side-by-side relationship when the connectors are inserted axially into the passages. The body substantially entirely surrounds the connectors. Complementary interengaging latches are provided between the body and each fiber optic connector for latching the connectors in the passages automatically in response to the insertion the connectors thereinto. The latches are configured to afford lost motion between the body and each fiber optic connector to provide floating motion between the connectors and the body.

Adapter assembly for fiber optic connectors

An adapter assembly is provided for holding two individual fiber optic connectors in generally parallel side-by-side alignment. The assembly includes a body having a pair of holding portions adapted for holding the fiber optic connectors in a substantially side-by-side relationship. A separate spring is mounted on the body and is adapted for cooperating with the body to bias the fiber optic connectors to a substantially parallel relationship.

A duplex connector system is provided for coupling two individual simplex fiber optic connectors in a side-by-side alignment. Each fiber optic connector includes a housing in which an optical fiber cable is terminated through a rear end of the housing. First and second strain relief boots are respectively interengageable with the housings of the connectors at the rear ends thereof and encompass the optical fiber cables. Resilient portions interconnect the first and second strain relief boots and are oriented therebetween for enabling the boots to hold the connectors in their side-by-side alignment while allowing relative motion between the connectors during mating and unmating process.
