Disclosed herein are apparatus and methods for mitigating column bed compression over time. This invention provides for an improved column design and method of controlling bed density in a chromatographic column using a protruding portion of a filter assembly. The invention results in a higher sorbent bed density than can normally be achieved using a fixed length column of conventional design. The invention may be implemented as a unique filter assembly or as a column tailored for the application and a matching filter assembly.

A method of performing SPE using the device is also provided.

A device for storing, measuring and dispensing granular and powder material has a container for accommodating a material, a dispensing unit with a casing having a filling opening and a dispensing opening and a slight movable in the casing between the filling position in which a slight compartment can side with the filling opening for pouring the material from the container into the slide, a spring, and a spring moving the slide from the filling position to a dispensing position in which the dispensing opening coincides with the filling opening of the casing and a spring arranged so that the slide can be moved from the filling position to the dispensing position by a user with overcoming a spring force, while the spring moves the slide from dispersing position to the stirring position.

An embodiment of the present invention features a chromatographic device. The chromatographic device comprises a body having a cylindrical wall having an exterior diameter. The cylindrical wall is flexible, expanding and contracting in response to radial pressure. The cylindrical wall defines a cavity for holding a chromatographic media. A chromatographic media is retained within said cavity. A spring element surrounds the cylindrical wall, permanently radially compressing said cylindrical wall and opposing the expansion of the wall in response to internal pressure within the cavity. The radial compression prevents the movement of the chromatographic media in the cavity and the opening of channels about the walls of the body.

Permanently radially compressed column

A chromatography column with filters having minimal volume. A stamped screen disk is coated with fluorocarbon polymer on both sides, leaving a center area open. The fluorocarbon polymer coating serves as a gasket, providing reliable sealing for pressure up to approximately 10000 psi. The chromatography column comprises a fitting having an internal cavity. A fluorocarbon polymer coated screen is placed within the cavity. A threaded capillary tubing is screwed inside the cavity. At the end of the capillary lies a compression screw solvent tubing connection.

Chromatographic column

A permanently radially compressed chromatographic column having a flexible-walled encasement containing chromatographic media, and a wound element surrounding the encasement for radially compressing the column.

A chromatography column is disclosed. The large diameter chromatography column comprises a column body with threaded end portions. At each of the end portions, a respective filter housing is disposed. A respective threaded end cap is threaded onto each of the threaded end portions. Each of the end caps has holes for receiving a plurality of mechanical fasteners. The mechanical fasteners are installed into each end cap and apply pressure against the filter housing which forces the filter housing against the face of the column, thus sealing it. When the need to open the column arises, the mechanical fasteners can be easily loosened to release the tension on the thread between column body and end cap. After this, the end cap can be unscrewed with minimal torque.

A device for individual collection of contaminated objects has a substantially elongated element having a first hollow portion formed to receive a user's palm and provided with a projection for receiving a user's thumb, and a second portion extending from the first portion and having an inlet opening for insertion of the user's arm, the second portion having a width which is at least greater than a width of the first portion, so that when a user by manipulations with the first portion and the projection collects the objects, the second portion can be turned over the first portion and farther so that the element is turned inside out to produce a bag-like structure with contaminated objects inside, and a unit for closing the element after it has been converted inside out, the closing a unit being a strap formed as a rear part of the second portion which is formed of one piece with a remaining part of the second portion and includes a plurality of transverse and longitudinal cuts, the rear part in an inoperative position being coextensive with the second portion while in an operative position the strap being unfolded and forming an elongated element for tying up the device with both ends of the strap which are connected of one piece to the remaining part of the second portion.

A household device for measuring and dispensing granular materials such as coffee, sugar and the like including set of adapters for receiving different canisters in which the granular material is normally sold or stored and a transporting mechanism for delivering a granular material from a receiving opening of the device to its dispensing opening. The transporting mechanism includes a slide having a lock which prevents the slide being fully withdrawn from a housing of the device and a compression spring(s) which effects a back stroke of the slide. The device is operated as a press-type mechanism that is convenient for users, especially for elderly and handicapped people.
