A spike resistant package containing a pouch, a first grouping of spike resistant textile layers, and a slip layer. The first grouping of spike resistant textile layers contains a plurality of spike resistant textile layers, where each spike resistant textile layer contains a plurality of interwoven yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 14 or more grams per denier. The slip layer is a woven or knit fabric containing a main portion and a first pile portion on the upper surface of the main portion. The slip layer contains a plurality of yarns knitted or woven together and a plurality of holes between the yarns. The holes of the slip layer have an average max hole size of less than about 2 mm. The yarns and fibers in the pile portion are in loops or strands extending outward from the main portion of the slip layer.

Spike resistant package and article

A multi-threat protection composite containing at least one textile layer having an upper and lower surface and a non-blocking pressure sensitive adhesive (NonB-PSA) composition on at least the upper surface of each layer. The NonB-PSA coating contains a pressure sensitive adhesive and a plurality of first inorganic particles, wherein the ratio by weight of the first inorganic particles to the pressure sensitive adhesive is greater than about 1, and wherein the NonB-PSA coating is in an amount of at least about 10 g/mon each surface the NonB-PSA coating is located.

Multi-threat protection composite

A multi-threat protection composite containing at least 15 textile layers having an upper and lower surface and a non-blocking pressure sensitive adhesive (NonB-PSA) composition on at least the upper surface of each textile layer. The NonB-PSA coating contains a pressure sensitive adhesive and a plurality of first inorganic particles, wherein the ratio by weight of the first inorganic particles to the pressure sensitive adhesive is greater than about 1.2 and wherein the NonB-PSA coating is in an amount of at least about 10 g/mon each surface the NonB-PSA coating is located. The first inorganic particles have a median primary particle size of less than about 5 micrometers.

A fire resistant composite containing an inner core having an upper surface and a lower surface and a plurality of fabric layers. Each fabric layer contains a plurality of interwoven tape elements with a base layer of a strain oriented thermoplastic polymer disposed between covering layers of a heat fusible polymer. The fire resistant composite contains a first flame stable thermally conductive layer on the upper surface of the inner core having a high flame stability and a thermal conductivity of at least about 10 W/m-K at 25&#xb0; C. and a second flame stable thermally conductive layer on the lower surface of the inner core having a high flame stability and a thermal conductivity of at least about 10 W/m-K at 25&#xb0; C. The fire resistant composite further contains a first fire resistant polymer layer on the first flame stable thermally conductive layer on the side opposite to the inner core.

Fire resistant composite

An insole with puncture-resistant properties for safety footwear. The insole contains a repeating pattern of knit layer groupings and woven layer groupings where the knit layer groupings form the upper and lower surfaces of the insole. Each layer within the knit layer groupings and the woven layer groupings is adhesively bonded to the adjacent layers. The knit layer groupings contain at least two knit layers and the woven layer groupings contain at least two woven layers. Each woven and knit layer contains yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 5 or more grams per denier in a knit configuration. Each woven and knit layer is impregnated on both sides and at least some of the internal surfaces with about 10 wt. % or less, based on the total weight of the layer, of a coating containing a plurality of particles having a diameter of about 20 &#x3bc;m or less.

Puncture resistant insole or footwear

A method for producing a cross-linked siloxane network comprises the steps of: (a) providing a first part comprising (i) a first siloxane compound comprising at least one cyclic siloxane moiety and (ii) a second siloxane compound comprising a plurality of siloxane moieties, (b) providing a second part, the second part comprising a hydroxide salt, (c) combining the first part and the second part to produce a reaction mixture, (d) heating the reaction mixture to a temperature sufficient for the hydroxide salt to open the ring of the cyclic siloxane moiety, and (e) maintaining the reaction mixture at an elevated temperature so that at least a portion of the opened cyclic siloxane moieties react to produce a cross-linked siloxane network.

Method for producing a cross-linked siloxane network

A spike resistant package containing a pouch, a first grouping of spike resistant textile layers, and a slip layer. Each of the textile layers within the first grouping of textile layers contains a plurality of interwoven yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 14 or more grams per denier. The slip layer has a thickness of less than about 0.1 mm, a stiffness of less than about 0.01 N-m, and a static coefficient of friction (COF) between the slip layer and the second side of the first grouping of less than about 0.40. The pouch essentially fully encapsulates the grouping of spike resistant textile layers and the slip layer and the slip layer and the inner surface of the pouch are in direct and intimate contact. An article containing the package is also described.

A spike resistant package containing a pouch, a first grouping of spike resistant textile layers, and a slip layer. Each of the textile layers within the first grouping of textile layers contains a plurality of interwoven yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 5 or more grams per denier. At least a portion of the spike resistant textile layers comprise about 10 wt. % or less, based on the total weight of the spike resistant textile layer, of a coating comprising a plurality of particles having a diameter of about 20 &#x3bc;m or less on at least one of the surfaces of the spike resistant textile layer. The slip layer has a stiffness of less than about 0.01 N-m and a static coefficient of friction (COF) between the slip layer and the second side of the first grouping of less than about 0.40. The pouch encapsulates the grouping of textile layers and slip layer. An article containing the package is also described.

A process for forming a nonwoven composite begins with forming a first nonwoven from a plurality of primary fibers and optionally binder fibers. A second nonwoven layer is formed from a plurality of bulking fibers and binder fibers. A thermoplastic elastomeric film is placed between the two nonwoven layers, the film containing a thermoplastic elastomeric polymer having an elongation at break greater than 300% and a max softening point (thermomechanical analysis end point) between 150&#xb0; C. and 200&#xb0; C. as tested according to ASTM E2347-04. The layers are needled together creating a plurality of holes in the thermoplastic elastomeric layer and moving a portion of the primary fibers from the first nonwoven layer into the second nonwoven layer. The needled stacked layers are heated to alter the median size of the holes in the thermoplastic elastomeric film forming the nonwoven composite.

Process for forming a nonwoven composite

A nonwoven composite containing a first nonwoven layer having a plurality of primary fibers and optionally binder fibers, a thermoplastic film comprising a thermoplastic polymer having an elongation at break greater than 300% and a max softening point (thermomechanical analysis end point) between 150&#xb0; C. and 200&#xb0; C. as tested according to ASTM E2347-04 and containing a plurality of holes and an air flow resistance great than 1,500 Rayls. A second nonwoven layer having a plurality of bulking fibers and optionally binder fibers. The thermoplastic film is adjacent the bottom surface of the first nonwoven layer and the top surface of the second nonwoven layer and sandwiched between the first and second nonwoven layers. At least a portion of the primary fibers from the first nonwoven layer are located in the holes of the thermoplastic film and within the second nonwoven layer.

Nonwoven composite

A siloxane compound comprises a plurality of siloxane repeating units and at least a portion of the siloxane repeating units are cyclosiloxane repeating units conforming to a specified structure. A process for producing such siloxane compounds is also provided. A process and kit for producing a cross-linked silicone polymer using the described siloxane compounds is also provided. A light emitting diode (LED) comprises an encapsulant, and the encapsulant comprises a cross-linked silicone polymer produced from the described siloxane compounds.

Cross-linked silicone polymer and process for producing the same

A siloxane compound conforms to the structure of one of Formulae (I), (X), and (XX). A composition comprises (a) a first siloxane compound selected from the group consisting of compounds conforming to the structure of Formula (X) and compounds conforming to the structure of Formula (XX) and (b) a second siloxane compound, the second siloxane compound comprising a plurality of siloxane repeating units, including cyclotrisiloxane repeating units conforming to the structure of Formula (XL).

Light emitting diode

A high temperature filter containing a membrane, a support substrate, and a porous adhesive layer. The porous adhesive layer is adjacent the inner surface of the membrane and the inner surface of the support substrate such that the membrane and the support substrate sandwich the porous adhesive layer. The porous adhesive layer comprises an adhesive having an adhesive operating temperature of at least about 450&#xb0; F. The support substrate is a woven textile, a non-woven textile, a knit textile, or a film, and has a support operating temperature of at least about 500&#xb0; F.
