A liquid crystal composition containing a benzochromene compound and the use thereof in a liquid crystal display element or liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal composition comprises one or more compounds represented by Formula I and one or more compounds represented by Formula II. The liquid crystal composition has the characteristics of a small rotational viscosity, a large elastic constant, a high transmittance, a fast response speed, a strong resistance to ultraviolet light irradiation, and a high long-time light stability, and is particularly suitable for the field of TV display.

A positive dielectric anisotropic liquid crystal composition includes one or more compounds of formula I and one or more compounds of formula II: wherein R1 represents cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl or cyclopentyl, R2, R3 and R4 are as defined in the specification, and a liquid crystal display device. Disclosed is a liquid crystal composition and use thereof. The liquid crystal composition comprises components a, b and c; wherein component a is selected from one of the compounds represented by formula I; component b is a liquid crystal composition having a dielectric anisotropy of greater than 3; and component c is a liquid crystal composition having a dielectric anisotropy of &#x2212;3 to 3. The liquid crystal composition has a high contrast ratio property, and has a low change rate at a low temperature, that is, the decrease of contrast ratio at a low temperature (such as &#x2212;20&#xb0; C.) is smaller as compared to a normal temperature. The composition has suitable properties with regard to practical applications, including a broader nematic phase range, an appropriate dielectric anisotropy, optical anisotropy and operating voltage, an excellent response time, a high electrical resistivity and voltage holding ratio, a low rotary viscosity, etc. 

Liquid crystal composition and application thereof

A liquid crystal compound containing cyclobutyl and a linking group difluoromethyleneoxy, and a preparation method and use thereof are disclosed. The compound is as shown in Formula I. The liquid crystal compound containing cyclobutyl as a terminal group and difluoromethyleneoxy (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;) as a linking group in the molecular structure of Formula I according to the present invention, has not only a high dielectric anisotropy, but also importantly an extremely fast response speed and a high clearing point, which are of great significance for the formulation of a liquid crystal mixture.
