A wireless communicating method includes: performing one resource unit allocation upon a channel; and allocating a first resource unit and a second resource unit in said one resource unit allocation to a station, wherein the first resource unit is different from the second resource unit. By using the wireless communication method, throughput rate can be improved.

Wireless communicating method and associated electronic device

Modulation schemes that use dual sub-carrier to reliably transmit physical layer related signaling information and/or data in high efficiency wireless local area network (HE WLAN) are proposed. The proposed schemes can be implemented with low complexity and provide better performance than existing modulation schemes used in WLAN that are based on IEEE 802.11/a/b/g/n/ac standards. The proposed schemes enhance the reliability of transmissions, especially under narrow band interferences. In accordance with a novel aspect, dual subcarrier modulation (DCM) is introduced in HE WLAN. DCM can introduce frequency diversity into OFDM systems by transmitting the same information on two subcarriers separated in frequency. A DCM indication scheme is used such that both encoding and decoding of DCM is really simple.

Reliable dual sub-carrier modulation schemes in high efficiency WLAN

A method of enhanced beamforming procedure to achieve spatial reuse and thereby improving cell edge performance and area throughput is proposed. The enhanced beamforming method increases the likelihood of channel access under dense deployment condition, reduces interference to OBSS, reduces collision during reception, and increases the likelihood of spatial reuse in dense deployment scenario thus leading to higher network throughput.

Beamforming enhancements for spatial reuse in wireless networks

An emergency mode is provided in a portable electronic device for locating a survivor in a disaster. The device includes a wireless antenna to transmit and receive wireless signals; a memory to store one or more identifiers; a user interface to receive a command that enables the emergency mode. The device also includes one or more processors, which, in response to the command, detect via the wireless receiver a predetermined identifier that matches a stored identifier identifying a sender of the predetermined identifier as a trusted node. When the predetermined identifier and a timing measurement frame are received from the trusted node, the device sends a response to the trusted node to indicate its presence.

Portable electronic devices with an emergency mode for locating survivors in disasters

A method of transmitting and receiving a HE PPDU and perform channel estimation enhancement is proposed. The HE PPDU comprises legacy preamble, HE-STF, HE-LTF, and data. A beam-change indication indicates if the pre-multiplied beamforming Q-matrix is changed from legacy preamble to H-SFT, HE-LTF, and data portion. A value of 1 indicates that Q matrix is changed. A value of 0 indicates that Q matrix is unchanged and receiver should be safe to combine L-LTF and HE-LTF. The beam-change indication can be used to significantly enhance channel estimation at receiver. When there is no beam-change, receiver does not change operation during HE-STF and HE-LTF such that the channel estimations can rely on the combination of L-LTFs, L-SIG, RL-SIG, HE-SIGAs and HE-LTF.

A method of channel contention procedure with CCA level enhancement is proposed. A wireless device initiates an EDCA channel contention procedure to gain access to the wireless medium. The device determines an intended TX channel width and performs primary channel CCA using a set of CCA levels based on the intended TX channel width for determining channel idle or busy condition in the EDCA procedure. Upon gaining access, the device performs secondary channel CCA and thereby determining a final TX channel width. The device transmits radio signals using the final TX channel width and a TX spectral power density, which is adjusted to be corresponding to the intended TX channel width. By raising CCA levels to be based on the intended transmission channel width, the likelihood of wide channel width transmission is increased. As a result, significant network throughput increase can be accomplished in dense deployment scenarios.

A novel feedback schemes are introduced to assistant link adaptation for re-transmissions and to improve the network throughput and efficiency. When reception failure is a type B failure, then a failure report (FR) frame is feedback from the destination STA to the source STA. In the failure report frame, link adaptation information and information on failure causes are included.

Reception failure feedback scheme in wireless local area networks

A method of indoor positioning using Fine Timing Measurement (FTM) protocol with multi-antenna access point (AP) is proposed. In a wireless local area network, an AP has multiple antennas that are strategically located in different physical locations. The AP is used to exchange FTM frames with a wireless station for timing measurement of the FTM frames via its multiple antennas independently. The timing measurement result (e.g., timestamps of transmitting and receiving FTM frames) is then used to determine an absolute location of the station. A simplified Indoor Location operation with simplified deployment is achieved.

Multiple antenna AP positioning in wireless local area networks

A method of direction finding (DF) positioning involving main lobe and grating lobe identification in a wireless communication network is proposed. A receiver performs DF algorithm on radio signals associated with multiple antennas over a first channel frequency and estimates a first set of DF solutions. The receiver performs DF algorithm on radio signals associated with multiple antennas over a second channel frequency and estimates a second set of DF solutions. The receiver then identifies the correct DF solution (e.g., the main lobe direction) by comparing the first set of DF solutions and the second set of DF solutions.

A method of a ranging and positioning with sensor STA/neighbor AP is proposed. An initiating wireless device establishes an FTM procedure with a responding wireless device in an indoor wireless local area network. The initiating device exchanges FTM frames with the responding device and thereby receiving a first set of timestamps from the responding device. The initiating device receives a second set of timestamps associated with the exchanged FTM frames from one or more listening devices. Finally, the initiating device determines location information from the first and the second set of timestamps.

Snooping sensor STA or neighbor AP ranging and positioning in wireless local area networks

A method of channel estimation enhancement is provided. In a wireless communications system, a transmitting device transmits a long preamble frame comprising a first training field, a signal field, and a second training field. The signal field has a beam-change indicator bit indicates whether there is beam change between the first training field and the second training field. A receiving device receives the long preamble frame, performs a first channel estimation based on the first training field, and performs a second channel estimation based on the second training field. If the beam-change indicator bit indicates negative beam change, then the receiving device performs channel estimation enhancement by combining the first channel estimation and the second channel estimation. As a result, channel estimation performance is improved.

A method of spatial re-use with TPC and adaptive CCA is proposed. A spatial re-use station detects spatial re-use information associated with other peer OBSS stations. The spatial re-use information comprises a TX spectral density (power/Hz) and received signal or interference information of each inter-BSS peer station. The spatial re-use STA determines a TX spectral density based on the detected spatial re-use information. The spatial re-use STA then contends the medium for spatial re-use transmission opportunity (TXOP) with an intra-BSS peer station. Finally, the spatial re-use STA starts spatial re-use frame exchange with the intra-BSS peer station using the determined TX spectral density. By adjusting the TX spectral density, the spatial re-use STA adapts its CCA level to spatially reuse the medium without causing collision and interference to OBSS stations and thus increases network throughput.

Adaptive CCA and TX power level adjustment for dense deployment of wireless networks

A method of spatial reuse with opportunistic transmit power control (TPC) and clear channel assessment (CCA) is proposed. In the opportunistic TPC and CCA, a spatial reuse station (SR-STA) gains enough knowledge in certain situation for more aggressive spatial reuse such that its transmit power may be adjusted to meet the spatial reuse conditions based on the received OBSS PPDU and the corresponding spatial reuse parameter (SRP). Both Type 1 SRP and Type 2 SRP are defined. In one example, the Type 1 or Type 2 SRP is a 5-bit parameter carried in the HE-SIG-A field of the OBSS PPDU, which can be a trigger frame, a response frame, a request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) frame, and a data frame.

Spatial reuse parameters for opportunistic adaptive TPC and CCA

A method of fast link adaptation for Bluetooth long-range wireless networks is provided. A novel rate indication (RI) field is incorporated in a data packet to enable auto detection of rate adaptation at the receiver side. The data packet comprises a preamble, a first packet portion including the RI field, and a second packet portion including the PDU. The first packet portion is encoded with a first rate while the second packet portion is encoded with a second rate indicated by the RI field. The transmitting device raise/lower the encoding rate when the link quality is good/poor. The receiving device can provide recommended rate or link quality feedback information via an LMP message to help the transmitting device making rate adaptation decision. The transmitter can unilaterally decide the data rate for the second packet portion without receiver recommendation.

Rate indication and link adaptation for long range wireless networks

A method for managing transmitting power of communications devices equipped with multiple antennas. The method enables a first antenna configuration of the plurality of antennas in accordance with a first pre-determined rule. The method transmits a first message to a peer communications device, wherein the first message comprises at least a power management profile of the communications device transmitting the first message. The method receives a second message comprising at least information pertinent to a power management profile of the peer communications device receiving the first message and signal integrity information determined by the peer communications device from the received first message. Finally, the method activates a second antenna configuration of the plurality of antennas by using the signal integrity information in accordance with a second pre-determined rule.
