An interruptible power supply (UPS) has a surge cancellation and electromagnetic interference (EMI) prevention device, a charger, a battery set and a power converter. The power converter has multiple power switches, an integrated transformer and a controller. An input terminal of the surge cancellation and EMI prevention device is connected with the AC mains, and an output terminal is connected with the integrated transformer. The charger is connected with the battery set. The battery set is connected with the power switches. The integrated transformer has a primary side having a first winding and a second winding serially connected. The first and second windings respectively have multiple sub-windings. The first winding is connected with the power switches. The second winding is connected with a power output terminal and shares a part of the first winding, thereby decreasing turns of the windings and reducing the size and cost of the UPS.

Uninterruptible power supply having an integrated transformer

A control method of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for extending a discharge time under a no-load condition instructs a battery of the UPS to discharge by repeating an alternate on and off cycle when the UPS enters a battery mode and after a no-load condition continues over a period of time so that the UPS alternately and repeatedly discharges and stops discharging based on the alternate on and off cycle, and detects if the no-load condition is not present during the discharging period. If not present, the battery is restored to continuously discharge. Additionally, the discharge voltage can be reduced during the discharging period to alleviate the power discharged under the no-load condition. Accordingly, the control method can reduce to discharge under the no-load condition and further extend a discharge time under a no-load condition.

Control method of an uninterruptible power supply for extending a discharge time under a no-load condition

An uninterruptible power supply supporting active loads includes a charge and discharge module having a battery set and a charger charging the battery set with an input power, a switch circuit having at least two active switches connected to the battery set, a dynamic PWM control module connected with each of the active switches of the switch circuit, alternately outputting duty cycles composed of low-frequency square wave and high-frequency square wave and alternately controlling each of the active switches to turn on or off, and a transformer having a primary side connected with the switch circuit and a secondary side whose two terminals are connected with an output capacitor generating a filtering function in collaboration with an leakage inductor in the secondary side of the transformer. The uninterruptible power supply generates a quasi-continuous output satisfying the hold-up time demanded by an active load.

Uninterruptible power supply supporting active loads

A power-saving line interactive UPS has a power switch set, a low-frequency transformer, a full-bridge circuit, a main controller, a charge and discharge mode controller, a rechargeable battery and a high-frequency charging circuit. The high-frequency circuit is connected between an AC power input terminal and the rechargeable battery to convert the AC power into a DC power and charge the rechargeable battery. Therefore, when the AC power is normally supplied and the power capacity of the rechargeable battery is not full, the high-frequency charging circuit is activated to charge the rechargeable battery without charging the rechargeable battery through the low-frequency transformer and the full-bridge switching circuit, thereby effectively reducing overall power consumption.

Power-saving line interactive uninterruptible power system

A controlling method of a battery mode of a UPS for an active PFC power supply has the following acts of monitoring the AC power source and determining whether the AC power source is terminated or not, wherein if a determining result is positive, the controlling method proceeds to next act, and switching to the battery mode and converting a DC power source of a battery to a square wave. The square wave has a period, and each half of the period is alternately constituted by at least two ON times and at least two OFF times, and each of the at least two OFF times is equal to or less than a hold-up time of the active PFC load having a hold-up time circuit. Therefore, the voltage of the bulk capacitor of the active PFC power supply under a discharge condition is not lower than the low threshold voltage, since the OFF time of the square wave signal will be kept equal to or less than the hold-up time.
