A method for indexing network camera data across heterogeneous web page structures is disclosed, which includes receiving a list of predetermined file formats, generating a list of IP network camera IP addresses, sending requests to each of the IP addresses, including transmitting a HTTP request to each IP address in the list, based on a response or lack thereof determine if an IP address is i) a network camera thereby adding the IP address to a list of network cameras, ii) a website thereby adding the IP address to a list of websites to be further investigated, or iii) an address void of network camera information thereby skipping the IP address, and crawling the IP addresses that have been determined to be websites using a web crawler identifying IP addresses of network cameras and resource path associated therewith and adding the same to the list of network cameras.

Automated discovery of network camera in heterogeneous web pages

A method for identifying non-IP cameras is disclosed. The method includes receiving name of an organization by one or more processors, performing an internet search via a script for the name associated with the organization by the one or more processors, thereby generating a plurality of website Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) listings, and parsing each of the generated HTMLs to identify uniform resource locator (URL) for a plurality of cameras by the one or more processors; analyzing each of the HTMLs to determine how metadata of each of the plurality of cameras is presented in the HTML by the one or more processors; determining physical location of each of the plurality of cameras by analyzing the associated metadata; and adding the camera of the plurality to a database of cameras.

System and method for identifying publicly available cameras

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure a method of is described. According to the method, usage data for an electronic device is obtained. An activity phase from a plurality of activity phases for the electronic device is selected based on the usage data. An activity phase has a corresponding timeout period and is defined by an inter-arrival threshold. The electronic device is instructed to enter a low power mode after being inactive for a time period at least as great as the timeout period corresponding to a selected activity phase.

The method includes receiving name of an organization, identifying a range of internet protocol (IP) address associated with the organization, querying each IP address in the range of the IP addresses, receiving a response from the IP addresses in response to the queries, verifying the received response is from a camera by obtaining an image file from the IP address and analyzing the image file, and adding IP address to a list of identified cameras.
