An analog-to-digital conversion device and a method thereof are provided. The analog-to-digital conversion device includes a first level adjustment unit, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a linear range detection unit. The ADC converts a test signal or a first input signal to generate a test data stream or a first output data stream. In an adjustment mode, the linear range detection unit obtains a conversion curve of the ADC by using the test data stream and determines whether to adjust offset control information according to a linear range of the conversion curve. In an operation mode, the linear range detection unit continues outputting the offset control information. Additionally, before transmitting the first input signal, the first level adjustment unit adjusts a direct-current level of the first input signal according to the offset control information to allow the first input signal to be within the linear range of the conversion curve.

Analog-to-digital conversion device and method thereof

A data recovery method includes the following steps. Firstly, plural sampling values are classified into a first group, a second group, a third group and a fourth group. A first channel estimation value and a second channel estimation value are generated according to the sampling values of the second group and the third group. A judging step is performed to judge whether a first sampling value of the first group is lower than the first channel estimation value or a second sampling value of the fourth group is higher than the second channel estimation value. If the judging condition is satisfied, a polarity of the first sampling value or the second sampling value is changed and then the plural sampling values are outputted. If the judging condition is not satisfied, the plural sampling values are directly outputted.

Data recovery method and associated device

A data recovery device including a filter, a tilt detection unit, a tilt cancellation unit and a data conversion unit is provided. The filter filters a radio-frequency data stream to generate an original data stream. The tilt detection unit synthesizes a tangential push-pull data stream by employing a first to a fourth data streams, and generates a tilt direction signal according to symmetry of a curve composed by the tangential push-pull data stream. The tilt cancellation unit detects a plurality of rising areas and falling areas of the original data stream, and reconstructs a plurality of data points corresponding to the rising areas or falling areas in the original data stream so as to generate a tilt repair data stream. The data conversion unit recovers the tilt repair data stream to a modulation signal.

Data recovery device and method

A circuit for generating a tracking error signal is provided. The circuit includes a digitizing circuit, a short signal removing circuit and phase comparator. The digitizing circuit receives first and second pick-up signals outputted from a pick-up head, and respectively compares the first and the second pick-up signals with a reference signal to obtain a first digital signal and a second digital signal. The short signal removing circuit is used for removing pulses in the first and the second digital signals, wherein the pulse width of the removed pulses are shorter than a preset time, and the first and second digital without the removed pulses are respectively served as a first determining signal and a second determining signal. The phase comparator receives the first determining signal and the second determining signal for outputting the tracking error signal according to a phase difference between the first and the second determining signals.

Circuit for generating tracking error signal

A circuit for generating a tracking error signal is provided. The circuit includes a digitized circuit, a short signal removing circuit and phase comparator. The digitized circuit receives first and second pick-up signals outputted from a pick-up head, and respectively compares the first and the second pick-up signals with a reference signal to obtain a first digital signal and a second digital signal. The short signal removing circuit is used for removing pulses in the first and the second digital signals, wherein the pulse width of the removed pulses are shorter than a preset time, and the first and second digital without the removed pulses are respectively served as a first determining signal and a second determining signal. The phase comparator receives the first determining signal and the second determining signal for outputting the tracking error signal according to a phase difference between the first and the second determining signals.

An asymmetry compensator for a partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) decoder, which is utilized to remove and eliminate the asymmetric component of the regenerating signal read from the optical recording medium, thereby effectively solving the problem of the asymmetry of the optical disk regenerating signal. The compensator includes an offset controller and a gain controller. The offset controller determines the central level of the regenerating signal thus to adjust the offset of the regenerating signal while the gain controller is arranged to adjust the gain of the regenerating signal.

Asymmetry compensator for partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) decoder

A type dependency modulation method with type control is integrated with type control code words in traditional type dependency modulation. It increases the effect of DC component control in the overall encoding procedure. In this method, a specific type-control code word is inserted at certain intervals in the encoding procedure, increasing the selectable code words in subsequent encoding procedures, thereby improving the DC component control ability.

Type dependency modulation method with type control

Disclosed are a method and device of converting data words into code words. This method inserts 2p guided bits before inputting each set of data words, performs a pre-defined operation, and generates 2data sequences with different guided bits. It chooses q data sequences from the 2data sequences for coding, performs a run length limited (RLL) coding with a coding rate m/n, and generates q (d, k) constrained code word sequences. Finally, an optimal (d, k) constrained code word sequence is selected from the q (d, k) constrained code word sequences. The device reduces the circuitry of the RLL coding applied guided scrambling without losing the control of direct current and low frequency components.

Method and device of converting data words into code words

A state modulation method and an apparatus for inserting state control codes are provided. To overcome the problems of inefficient control on direct current and low frequency component in conventional state modulation techniques, the disclosed method inserts state control codes in a state modulation method to increase the probability for selection. With multi-level characteristics, the inserted state control codes can provide a plurality of sets of different signals for selection during coding. Thereby, the direct current and low frequency components can be well controlled.

State modulation method and apparatus for inserting state control codes

An encoding method of recording media is used to speed up the encoding procedure in a recording media. Different conditions of states and paths set in advance during the encoding procedure to simply the actual operation loading for possible paths in the look-ahead calculation, thereby achieving fast encoding. Using the method, the operation of the look-ahead calculation of an exponential growth is greatly reduced to a linear growth.

Encoding method of recording media

A fast look-ahead path modulation apparatus, used in a recording medium modulation apparatus, reduces computation time during its look-ahead path modulation procedure. It is based on different selection criteria of predetermined states, paths and characteristics of modulation. Accordingly, the apparatus drastically reduces the amount of computation in a regular look-ahead path modulation apparatus. It also reduces hardware costs of the recording medium modulation apparatus and increases efficiency.

Fast look-ahead path modulation apparatus

An encoding and decoding method of record medium having the concept of type and set is disclosed. The disclosed not only satisfy the DK-Constraint, the coding rate and DC-free control are better through the auxiliary conditions of type dependency and digital sum value. The available storage space of the record medium consequently increases. In the decoding procedures, the accuracy and efficiency are better through the auxiliary conditions of type dependency and forbidden type set. Thus, the decoding error consequently decreases.
